The Warriors
- Greatest cult movie EVER. Rio Bravo - w John Wayne, Dean Martin, and Ricky Nelson. Awesome western. Bridge on the River Kwai - one of the greatest war movies ever made. The Game - w Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. One freaky suspense ride. |
12 Angry Men
Witness for the Prosecution Casablanca Cain Mutiny Cool Hand Luke The Good, Bad, Ugly Heat of the Night Stalag 17 King Rat Raisin in the Sun All available on DVD... whooooo! |
Kris:
I know only the original version of Das Boot so it's German... It's long and the beginning is quite boring... but I think it's really a good movie! |
1. Hidden Dragon Crouching Tiger
2. Magnolia 3. Gretchen and the 4 getho-brothers who wouldn't take "no" for an answer |
Capribex: Is no.3 with english subtitles? ;)
Kris/wsjb78: What is Das Boot?? XXXPhoto: Lots of movise I never saw.. interesting.. Im a fool for "quality" pictures to tell you the truth. I like action/comedy as well but the ones I remeber are those that "want to say" something.. Ocassionally there is a good movie coming from Hollywood that saves them (imho) For example: The big Kahuna. Great movie Usual suspect American beauty Fisher king (Freakish as it sounds, three of them happen to have one actor in common but its an accident cause in atleast one of them he is not the main reason for the movie being good) |
In no specific order of my rating...
Amores Perros Vanilla Sky Minority Report xXx Bandits Princess Mononoke Armageddon Snatch Fight Club Gladiator Ocean's Eleven Boondock Saints Shrek Ice Age Boogie Nights American Beauty Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels Girl, Interrupted Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon The Shawshank Redemption The One Sphere Rat Race Requiem For A Dream Gone in 60 Seconds Memento The Matrix Blow Almost Famous X-Men The Jackal Traffic Titan A.E. Hackers Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within The Usual Suspects Being John Malkovich The Replacement Killers The Legend Of Drunken Master Harry Potter What Women Want Rain Man That's most of my DVD collection. A few that I haven't bought yet which I'd like are... The 5th Element K-Pax Akira American Psycho Blood: The Last Vampire Boiler Room Braveheart The Negotiator Pretty Women Spy Game The Patriot The Count of Monte Cristo Zoolander Mean Machine The Hunt For Red October Saving Private Ryan Top Gun Willow Visions of Escaflowne Desperado Varsity Blues Ghost In The Shell I probably am fogetting a few.. Oh, and hi everyone. Cheers, Matt |

A more recent movie of this type is called "Closetland" and stars Alan Rickman (Die Hard villian and Sheriff in Robin Hood movies) Definate mind-fuck type of movie if you enjoy that sort of mental entertainment... ;^Ð |

12 Angry Men - Seen it. Both the original and the new version. Both amazing. I mistakenly remembered a different name till I though about it again. I though it was named "the Jury" or something.. Witness for the Prosecution - Think I saw. not sure. Its agatha christy - right? Casablanca - Classic though I found it somewhat boring. I think I skipped in the middle. Cain Mutiny - Don't know what it is. Counld'nt find a movie by that name. Do you mean "Citizen Kane"?? Cool Hand Luke - Dont think I've seen. The Good, Bad, Ugly - Classic. Saw several times ;) Heat of the Night - Didn't see Stalag 17 - Didn't see as far as I can remember King Rat - Didn't see Raisin in the Sun - Didn't see The cain one reminded me or Citizen Kane - which is amazing. Also reminded me of - Great dictator and Dr Strangelove(or how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb) :D muhaha Also - Rear window - which is most probably the best directing by hitchcock. Name of the rose is also very good. But from the above I think only 12 angry man fits in my top-10. rear-window might be if I make a top-10 of directing and Citizen Kane makes it to the top-10 for acting. |
XXXManager:
Das Boot (probably english title would be The Boat or The U-Boat) is a German Anti-War film based on the story of U96. I rather think it's a good movie however the beginning is somewhat slow. |
I have many films I like too hard to pick a favourite, depends on mood.
A few I really like are Enter The Dragon Way Of The Dragon The Matrix Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon The Blues Brothers I'll stop there before I name too many |
FireHorse: You really like Dragons.. don't you? :D
did you see Dragonheart? |
XXXManager: If you're intersted have a read here: http://www.uboatwar.net/boote.htm
Dragons are cool.. just watched Dragonheart 2 days ago... have seen Reign Of Fire at home (didn't bother to go to the movie theater)... |
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is very good, thought provoking. If you can get the director's commentary it is even better (have to watch it twice though! once normally, once with the commentary)
|
there are many i LOVE...though one of the funnies and better ones i always watch lately is 'The Big Lebowsky'
LOL :p |

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you.
|
yeah i agree, Pulp is pure FUN! really a good movie!
|
My favorite movie is another Tarrantino movie called True Romance. If you haven't seen it, it's awesome..
There are about a zillion cameos in it. Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walkin, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, Gary Oldman, James Gandolfini and more, but I can't remember. You should rent it tonight! |
i've never heard about that one, fact is that here movies come ages after they are out ehehe lol :bonk:
|
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0108399 - Info about True Romance.. really, you must see it.. lol
There are a few great ones mentioned .. I thought Das Boot was an excellent film. I've seen the German (subtitled) version and an american version. The original is by far the better one. It has a truly creepy feel to it...I felt suffocated near the end. LOL American Psycho, Desperado and Memento are also favorites of mine. And I LOVED Home For The Holidays with Holly Hunter and Robert Downy Jr. - If you have a wacky family(which I think most of us do), you'll appreciate this movie :) OK.. has anyone seen this independent film called Happiness? It was funny, interesting and disturbing all at once. A must see.... well, if you don't mind being a bit disturbed.. lol Here's info http://us.imdb.com/Title?0147612 |
HotLipsHooligan: HEHE. I'm an IMDB.com junkie as well :D
Didn't see True romance yet. Seen Memento - cool movie. (by the way - did you see Cube?) Whats the deal with American psycho - why do people like that movie? |
