I love going here: http://us.imdb.com/top_250_films to find out all the oldies that are highly rated and then download/rent the movies. I just never got into the pre-80's movies until recently. Just saw Citizen Kane this year.
It amazes me how they rate Shawshank Redemption as the #2 movie of all time. I really loved it, but c'mon - #2? |
hershie.... I had a look at that list and I wouldn't put a lot of faith in it.
Some good movies in there, but the order is questionable. I watched "The Crying Game" last night. Hadn't seen it since it first came out. Great movie.... |
If you grew up with dorky parents like mine you got a lot of quirky British movies from the 50s and 60s.
Tom Jones (actually won an oscar for best picture!) The Wrong Box Papillion The Great Escape The Longest Day Some forgotten movies from the last 2 decades: Wings of Desire Until the End of the World Hamburger Hill Once Were Warriors Good stuff! I saw some of Kentucky Fried Movie on cable and it was pretty hilarious. Airplane! was on Comedy Central last night as well. C. |

great flick for sure. Was actually an anti-war flick as Vietnam was raging at the time. A couple other good war movies in that era were Catch-22 and M.A.S.H. |
