Question about blogs
 

I have a question about blogs.

In terms of attracting search engine attention to your blog, is it better to use blog software and install it on your own server, or is it better to use a public blog service like blogspot?

I'm currently doing both, but I would still like to hear what others think, or from experience.

I think blogspot.com but that is just me =)

blogspot for sure, it gets spidered very quickly

I've got one over there. I will have to watch the traffic closely.
My own blogs on my own servers don't seem to be grabbing the same SE traffic yet though. Patience I guess.

isn't blogspot affiliated with google in some way?

I'm using blog software and have it installed on my own server. All my blogs are doing nicely with being spidered and also the SE traffic.... :)

Interesting. Is there a lot of content on your blogs? One of mine in particular is starting to have a lot of content on it, but still doesn't seem to be grabbing the SE traffic.

Marie's Journal is on a free script that is available on another board and I have to admit it's more of a personal blog but I'm willing to share. I often get asked a lot about this blog and the most often asked question is whether it is fantasy or reality... I leave that up to the person who reads the entries on this blog to decide.

This is more of personal look at a blog. It contains some advertising but it is not full of it... as you will see.

I have over 100 entries on this one and on my other around 78 at the moment. Reminds me I must go and update the other sometime tonight (my time).

I mostly exchange links and of course I submit it to the SEs and Dmoz. I also have links on all my link lists and any other sites that I have and own and can include it.

The SEs pick up some of the data pages too which I love :)

These are two of my blogs... I believe I have 6 and some are mainstream such as this one that I am working on at the moment -

Personally when it comes to Public Blogs - I'm not sure if I'd ever use one. I like to work my blog to the way I want and if the public blog goes down for whatever reason, I know that I won't be affected...
