Beware Of Dog Flu
 

On Monday, researchers reported that the mysterious disease was an influenza strain that jumped from horses to dogs.

Such a rapid jump into a new species is rare; the flu usually evolves into new strains more gradually.

But genetic tests of sick dogs found their disease almost identical to the H3N8 influenza strain that afflicts horses, scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and University of Florida discovered. The results were published online Monday by the journal Science.

Scary indeed; if that could transfer from one animal species to another then it's also possible that it will be transfered to human as well.

This reminds myself to take my dog george to the vet for a needle in his rump.

That's the best thin to do to your pets.

I'm always walking george and he is always sniffing grass and sometimes he likes to lick the base of trees. He really loves playing with other dogs and sniffing their privates. I guess that what dogs do, so getting a needle might not be very pleasant for a few minutes, but it will make sure he doesn't get sick. Other than the common cold & dry nose etc..
