Porn for people with disabilities
I came across this article today and I think it's a pretty good idea, although I'm not sure how big the market is, It would be a nice resource to collect these type of sites and make them easy for those who need them to find them.
Blinding idea for a porn site Quote:
This is actually a good resource for webmasters - http://www.w3.org/WAI/quicktips/Overview.php Some of the suggestions are also good practice for SEO 10 Quick Tips 1. Images & animations: Use the alt attribute to describe the function of each visual. 2. Image maps. Use the client-side map and text for hotspots. 3. Multimedia. Provide captioning and transcripts of audio, and descriptions of video. 4. Hypertext links. Use text that makes sense when read out of context. For example, avoid "click here." 5. Page organization. Use headings, lists, and consistent structure. Use CSS for layout and style where possible. 6. Graphs & charts. Summarize or use the longdesc attribute. 7. Scripts, applets, & plug-ins. Provide alternative content in case active features are inaccessible or unsupported. 8. Frames. Use the noframes element and meaningful titles. 9. Tables. Make line-by-line reading sensible. Summarize. 10. Check your work. Validate. Use tools, checklist, and guidelines at http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG © W3C (MIT, INRIA, Keio) 2001/01 |

I've already found out that more than one of the members of TheTongue.net is deaf. Deaf people find text to be particularly important for scene descriptions, galleries and reviews because it is the medium of communication they are often most familiar with.
Thanks for the interesting thread Cyn! |
thanks cyn. i appreciate the thread. i worked with the office for student with disabilities in university, and much of the struggle was with multimedia. i learned that there lots of "invisible" diseases out there, or some that are managed until a flare up hits. aside from the consumers of porn, i bet that there are a lot more people with disabilities working in the biz than we know. and good on them!
