Wow..... how careless you'd think they would know better. This is going to have a big effect on the marine life there like Magnus said.

That would be horrible. I feel sorry for the marine life and wildlife. I'd worry if I lived there with the oil seeping into lawns and just the mess of cleaning oil off your house and anything that is outside.
