http://www.breitbart.com/article.php...show_article=1 Ebola outbreak confirmed in DR Congo: WHO Sep 11 07:44 AM US/Eastern The World Health Organisation said Tuesday that five cases of the deadly Ebola virus had been confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, after dozens of people succumbed to an unidentified illness in recent months. The five cases of the viral haemorrhagic illness were confirmed in western Kasai in the centre of the vast African country, WHO spokeswoman Fadela Chaib told journalists in Geneva. Ebola causes the patient to bleed under the skin and in severe cases, from the mouth, ears and eyes. The virus, which has no known cure, is highly infectious for those who come into contact with a victim's body fluids. |
That is frightening for sure. Ebola isn't an airborne infection is it?

This will be on my birthday list! Scary shit indeed! So much for my African Safari...Is it airborne? |
It is horrible. Some of the people don't know how to properly care for the infected or have the equipment, (gloves, masks, scrubs, sterilization supplies,...) to do so, so they in turn, are at high risk to become infected. It's just horrible because entire villages can fall ill in a matter of a few weeks.
It's not an airborn virus, but is highly contagious. From WHO: http://www.who.int/csr/disease/ebola/en/ http://www.who.int/mediacentre/facts.../en/index.html Quote:
