Going south for New Years! Wanna come?

I have decided I'm going to the south for New Year's. I'll leave around the 26th of December and come back 7 or 10 days later, depending on what's available.

I was thinking about Riviera Maya or Cancun. I would like to know if anyone has ever been there and if it is a guarantied hot and sunny place for that time of the year.

I know the west coast is hot and sunny, I have been there twice (Salvador and Mexico) but I'd like to see the blue ocean and I'm not interested in Cuba or the Dominican Republic...

Any comments or suggestions?

Oh, and by the way, I'm going alone but good company would be great! Wanna come?

When I was visiting Montreal a few years ago, there was a big billboard along the highway advertising vacations in Cuba. I thought, "That's something you'll never see in the States."

Billboards for Cuban vacations? I never thought of that before. That is cool.

My sister-in-law just went to Cancun and had a great time. I am not 100% positive, but I think December is good weather there.
