What happened to those History Eraser programs?

Evidence Eliminator, Internet Eraser, etc...
What happened to them?

They were white hot popular for awhile years ago, and then they just weren't there anymore.

webmasters may have found they dont want all those bookmarks etc wiped out so they stopped promoting them big time?

As B O B said, alot of them erased cookies etc. So I think WM's thought theyd do themselves more bad than good.

I'd classify them under, "Make all your money as quickly as possible and then get out." type programs. They worked because they scared the hell out of the surfer, but surfers began to get wise to them. When webmasters aren't making bank on them anymore, they move on to something else.
