New Canon camera sure to please the adult filmmakers
Canon recently announced their new baby, the EOS 5D MKII. Although a pricey beast (~$2500 + lenses), it captures true 1080 images at 30p, with the added advantage of using a professional CMOS and lenses. If this is all too technical for you, take a peak at this little movie some lucky fellow made last weekend with an early prototype of the camera :
http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/2008/...r-ado-reverie/ Quite astounding quality there! Me wants one! |
Hey that was very impressive. So much so that I checked out Vincent Laforet's blog and watch the "making of" as well.
Take a look http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/ That blog is a must for any photographer/videographer. |
Awesome camera . the video feature is sure to please many photojournalists
2700$ price point .. Starts to make me wonder if I should switch from Nikon to canon !!!!!maybe not, the Nikon D90 also has HD video in it and only at a $1000 price point, Damn I gots lots more spec reading to do ... any word on NIkon's D3X or D900 ? |
here are some sample videos taken with the Nikon D90 .. a 12.3Mp camera, records in 720p HD
http://chsvimg.nikon.com/products/im...90/en/d-movie/ Mmmm .. a 1500$ difference in price. I"m gonna wait and see what nikon has in store fo rthe D900 and D3x |
Isn't Fuji a major player in this area too?
I always thought they were. I have an S9100 and it totally rocks! |
Fuji's S5 and S3 are apsolutely awesome cameras ....
I have an S1 as my Spare camera .. Haven't taken it out of the box in two years! .. I love the Fuji S series because the cameras run fully on alkaline batteries .. so when in a pinch, it's just a quick stop at the convience store for some AAs and 123s .. In retro spec . I should put the S1 for sale as I don't think I will ever pull it out again . Leaving my trusted D100 as my back up as soon as I decide on my new d slr I love my D100 this camera has been thru hell and back .. a few months back my ex through accross my loft in a fit of range .. I have cement floors and thought to myself " YIKES there goes my baby !" but all she got was a small dent and the camera preforms like new .. It's hard for a Nikon Person to switch to canon .. the reverse can not be said. Canon Users are known for switching to Nikon I just feel sorry for those that jumpped on the D300 and d3 bandwagon |
We scrutinized both sample videos taken by dpreview.com from the Nikon d90 and the new Canon. Although the original picture quality from the Nikon was pretty good (good sized sensor and can use good lenses), the compression that was used on the videos was pretty bad. And the rolling shutter effect doesn't help either ( http://s477.photobucket.com/albums/r...t=DSC_0012.flv ).
The Canon has better compression from what we have seen. The rolling shutter effect is still present but we don't have access to such an extreme example as the Nikon one so it's hard to judge... It's a no brainer that at 1000$ the Nikon d90 obliterates any given regular camera. And we can't really compare the image quality between the Nikon and Canon cause they are two different models not playing the the same leagues. Can't wait to see the next generations! Hoping they will fix the rolling shutter soon!!! Do you take a lot of pics Vid? |
WOW .. that is slick .. I have to say .. I am very impressed .. this is all news to me .. seems a little shopping spree in order for me .. ;)
