The latest in military hardware -- exoskeletons
http://science.howstuffworks.com//exoskeleton.htm
Humans aren't the swiftest creatures on Earth, and most of us are limited in the amount of weight that we can pick up and carry. These weaknesses can be fatal on the battlefield, and that's why the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is investing $50 million to develop an exoskeleton suit for ground troops. This wearable robotic system could give soldiers the ability to run faster, carry heavier weapons and leap over large obstacles. |
Too bad the prototypes are being modeled for military purposes.
It's still very cool nonetheless. |

No world à la MadMax / Terminator / etc could be made possible without politicians, because nobody of private industry would develop it on a private initiative. Thinking of Spiderman's Green Goblin....

Think I can get one on ebay?
:p |
I wouldn't worry too much about this for now. Till they get some very small stable nuclear power plants, this thing isn't hitting the battlefield anytime soon. The tech to build the suit is here, except for the power to make it run without having a big extention cord dragging behind it...
