Mastercard kills Pre-Checked Cross Sales

Important information regarding cross sales. This was Ron's original post from GFY.
How do you think it will affect business in the short and long term?

Pre-Checked Cross sells are now officially DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!
Fines will be 50k per week per account
30 days for banks to cancel all accounts or termination of their right to process

This rule will not affect IPSP accounts since we are viewed as a single merchant in MasterCard's eyes.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! The day before Christmas this is really PRICELESS

It isn't all cross sales that are under the microscope. A company can cross sale within its own network. They can't just sell or trade their customers to outside parties.

MasterCard needs to actually enforce the rule, make a few high profile examples as well as nail a few smaller players too, so that the small to medium offenders won't think they can just barely hide under the radar and all is okay as long as they remain hidden.

Then Visa needs to follow suit. Not just announcing their stance, but actually following through with enforcing any rule(s) they have regarding the sale or exchange of information.

MasterCard has some pull, but Visa really needs to step up to the plate. When the two companies are on the same page and rules are actually enforced, then we will begin to see significant changes.

Both mainstream and adult companies need to get nailed. When mainstream starts to get nailed, the public will hear about it too, and then it isn't just us horrible porn people who were abusing consumer credit cards.

Great post. Imagine if responsible business practices and Pay-to-Watch ruled the day.....there would be big money in adult entertainment online.....

OK for Visa, not for MC? Will they disappear or uncheck once MC is detected as the card type?
