Ralph MacQuarrie illustrated the imaginations of millions when he brought George Lucas's to life:

The true father of the Vader we know has died:


And, because of his small part in The Empire Strikes Back, he became the only conceptual artist in history to have an action figure made after his likeness (and not bad at that, unlike others):


RIP, or as Vader would say: "NOOooooo..."

RIP. I didn't know he was behind these great things.
