Hey Montreal has it's first Krispy Kreme!

Ever since I tried these in the states I have been hooked!
So I am providing a map and an address for you Montrealers who need your fix!

My dog makes me go to Krispy Kreme whenever he gets the chance. He loves them - and he is a good dog, so he shares them with me.

That first location in Toronto.. I remember the police at 4 corners of the intersection directing traffic for 5 months!!! When you stand in line they would bring out free goods to keep you hooked till your inside getting a 24 pack of assorted.

Closest to us is just shy of an hour away in Washington..*sigh*

Well Magnus, I just got back and it's very close to how you describe it in terms of the amount of people there.
There's a parking lot about the size of a football field that was full of cars. Parking attendants all over the place and it took me about 25 min to get inside and be served. There was at least 40 employees working. But it was worth the wait! :D

all this for a donut? seems a little strange to me!

Yeah well, as you know Easton, they're very good! Plus, I was out anyway and got curious so I checked it out.

I remember the first time I saw a Krispy Kremes...I thought everyone was fucking insane! Cars backed up around the block, people walking out with 10 dozen doughnuts, etc...

I was from Seattle and doughnuts were not a big thing...only reserved for Police Officers and office Lunchroom tables.

But I did eventually try one and they are crazy good.

I can't believe the biggest news in this city right now is Krispy Kreme. It's deep-fried Dough-balls! Let's get SOME perspective here!

Have you ever had a Krispy Kreme doughnut? Or maybe you just don't like doughnuts in which case I understand your response.

For those of you that don't know Krispy Kreme started back in the 50s with a tiny doughnut shop in Salisbury North Carolina. My wife's hometown. Here in Orlando we've got them all over the place and I get my fix at least once a week.

Be sure to stop in when they've got the 'hot doughnuts' sign lit because then they'll give you the ones that are coming straight from the grease. AWESOME!!!!

OMG!!!! I just ate 3 donuts in a row :blush: DAMN, it's almost better than sex...lol

Now you've gone and done it, Chris...I'm going to have to take a long drive out to Mississauga now to get some Krispy Kreme donuts cause they are that good! ;)

The Birth Place of Krispy Creme is about 1/2 hour from our office and we have about 3 locations within a 5 minute drive, and I'm sure we go through 10 dozen a week. In the South, we ween our kids off of sweet tea and krispy creme doughnuts, the dentists make a killing around here!! I only stop now if the neon is on, get'm while they're hot!!

hmmmmmmmmmm... haven't be to ityet, but it is just 5mins away from my buddies place. so maybe i'll pass by one of these nights. My sis in Toronto has been telling me eveyrtime she calls to go check it out. But am not a donut freak. But I guess can't hurt to try. Like the saying goes "don't knock it unless ya try it". Worse comes to worse and I wanna get rid of them if I get addicted to them, I'll just drive by Easton's place and see what he says. All for a donut. BAH!! hehehehe

They aren't just doughnuts. They're in a higher league than all the other doughnut places!

Trust me, you don't want to be in the donut business. I used to own 2 Dunkin Donuts in upstate NY. It was hell. You are open 24/7/365 and there are always huge headaches around the clock you have to deal with. The day never ends. You must rely on teenagers making near minimum age to come to work and act professionally. The margins are great selling coffee and donuts but boy do you need huge volumes to make a dime. It almost put me in my grave from the stress, and I sold them after 5 years and moved to Silicon Valley and started up an Internet company.


Krispy Kreme may be a much better venture since they do such massive volumes you can afford f/t managers and ass't managers to look after the place... Trouble is Krispy Kreme awarded master franchisees to large players (the guys who have Vancouver franchise rights also have them exclusivelly for all of Western Canada, Alaska, Washington, Hawaii and Oregon). So its next to impossible to open one up on your own.
