Like last year this is a "confidence pool", which means that when you make your weekly picks you will be asked to weight your confidence in each pick (1-14 or 1-16 depending on the week), the higher the number you assign to a pick the more confidence you have in that pick.

DEADLINES
The season opener (game 1) begins on THURSDAY Sept. 4th with Packers playing the Seahawks. However, players have right up until the kickoff of the first game on the SUNDAY of each week to make their picks (Eastern Standard Time). IF YOU MISS PICKING EARLY GAMES (Thursday, Saturday etc) you simply forfiet the points for those games but you can still get your picks in for the remaining games before the usual Sunday deadline. No picks will be entered after the Sunday deadlines.


****NOTE**** You DO NOT NEED any NFL experience in order to play.
Anyone, and we do mean ANYONE can win! NFL games are notoriously fickle events, and even the most seasoned pickers and gamblers have been burned by a last second field goal or "hail Mary" play. There have been people who made random picks in past years who have won prizes.

Week two - Season 2014 - Results & Weekly Winner
 

Week two results tell a very interesting tale, marking a great start to the 2014 season thus far.
From the first matchup of the week where Baltimore hammered the Steelers soundly it set off a string of upsets and unexpected outcomes. The mighty Seahawks and 49ers both found ways to lose while Buffalo, Cleveland, and the Rams found themselves in the win column.
And in last night's Monday Nighter the EAGLES managed to net another win and a place among the seven teams having a 2-0 start. Indy on the other hand joins other surprise teams NO Saints and KC Chiefs among the seven who are 0-2.

What else is surprising is that a lot of you thought the Bears were going to beat the Niners, many even went heavy with their weights on this one, and for one in the pool it paid off particularly well...

Week three - Season 2014 - Results & Weekly Winner
 

This week started with a monster blowout with Atlanta utterly destroying Tampa in the Thursday Nighter.
The rest of the week held more surprises -- Giants' fans will be happy that their team finally won one.
Philly with the huge comeback win over Washington was a fun game to watch, Eagles are 3-0 so far.
And in the Superbowl rematch it was AGAIN the Seahawks showing their dominance.
Bengals 3-0. Cards 3-0. Overall I'd say Cincy is looking the strongest so far this season.

A rare photo-finish was seen in the pool this week, and at the end it was the MNF total score that decided it. SO CLOSE!

Week four - Season 2014 - Results & Weekly Winner
 

This week started with the Giants coming out of obscurity and utterly HAMMERING the
Redskins in the Thursday Nighter.
On Sunday there were more one-sided games (ie; slaughters), as Green Bay thumped
Chicago, Indy destroyed Tennessee, and Baltimore owned Carolina, as did Miami over
the Raiders.
Dallas humbled New Orleans, and the week came to a close with the Chiefs absolutely
shaming the Patriots in the Monday Nighter.

I don't think I've seen so many blowouts in the same week in fact.

In the pool however it was so not a blowout. We had yet another tie at the finish, and the next four players were only two points back in a four-way tie for third. It again came down to the MNF game score to decide the winner...

Week Five - Season 2014 - Results & Weekly Winner
 

Last night's Monday Nighter capped off another great week in the NFL with Seattle getting a closer-than-expected win over the Redskins. The score was 27-17, and although Washington did have a couple of great looking TDs (Deshaun Jackson!) imagine what the score would have been had Percy Harvin's THREE TDs not been called back. It would have been the massive blowout we were all expecting.

The week of course started off with that blowout Green Bay inflicted on Minnesota. A couple of Sunday games were decided in overtime, and Denver soundly beat the previously-undefeated Cardinals.

Several of us in the pool got killed by point spreads this week. But one guy in the pool really stood out and had a step on those treacherous spreads. All of the top 9 or 10 finishers this week did well, however one in particular kicked some major ass...

Arizona Cards are you KIDDING ME? They've now got the best record in the NFL currently, are are arguably the best team in what is widely considered to be the toughest division in football right now. This week started off on Thursday night with a surprise win by the Browns over the Bengals. The surprises didn't stop there though. Niners eeked out a squeaker of a win in OT over the Saints on Sunday, and the Pack absolutely SHAMED the Bears in a massive blowout.

On the morning after one of the better (and arguably the best) catches in NFL history, according to the NY Times, the play was being analyzed by physicists, mechanical engineers and sports scientists. And even under the microscope "that catch" by Giants' receiver Odell Beckam earned rave reviews.

Seattle let some air out of the Arizona Cardinals' swagger on Sunday. Denver won but did not cover the spread against Miami.

Monday Nighter doubleheader update -- Ravens and Bills get wins on Monday Night Football: Kyle Orton threw two touchdowns as the Buffalo Bills utterly crushed the New York Jets 38-3. In New Orleans, Justin Forsett rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns as the Baltimore Ravens beat the Saints 34-27. An ill-timed interception throw by Drew Brees didn't help NO either, which resulted in a pick-six. Ravens remain the only team in the league that Brees has not had a win against.

And because of the inclusion of that previously-snowed-out Bills-Jets game this week we get a surprise winner that no one saw coming...

Week Thirteen - Season 2014 - Results & Weekly Winner
 

What a last quarter of the season this is turning out to be! In the AFC alone we have half a dozen teams all tied at 7-5 and looking for a wildcard spot (or better). In the NFC the race is no less tight.

Giants woes continue with a loss to the lowly Jaguars of Jacksonville. Green Bay beats New England to make this interesting. And Atlanta won over Arizona, which surprises me in that some of you actually took the Falcons in that game. Well done.

Another close finish week in the pool. Sports news media is all abuzz today about Aaron Rogers and the incredible stats milestones he's hit and the ones he's surpassed with the Pack's win over Atlanta in last night's Monday Nighter. Week Fifteen - Season 2014 - Results & Weekly Winner
 

You know it's getting late in the season when teams start 'clinching' things. Take New England for example. With their win over the Dolphins they've clinched the AFC East. Colts and Broncos have clinched their divisions as well, and the Cardinals have clinched a playoff spot of their own.

Saints looked like their old winning selves last night in their win over the floundering Bears. Cowboys edged the Eagles on Sunday, and a horrible call by the ref may have sealed the coffin with the final nail in the 49'ers loss to Seattle. Packers' loss to the Bills is also going to make for an interesting finish in the NFC North.

In the pool it was pretty much a lock by Sunday night. The Monday Nighter could have gone either way and it wouldn't have made a difference...

Peyton Manning throws a rare 4 interceptions in the Monday Nighter which resulted in the Broncos losing to Cincy 37-28. Romo on the other hand passed the Cowboys all-time passing record in their landslide win on Sunday over the Colts. Dallas is looking like a contender. A big final week of the regular season this one was. Carolina wins the NFC South which means that for the first time in I don't know how long a sub-500 team will be going to the playoffs. The Cowboys are also in the playoffs, for the first time since 2009 I might add. Divisional Playoffs Update
 

Last weekend's Divisional Playoff games brought the contest down to four. Patriots pulled off a dramatic double-comeback win to oust Baltimore. Seattle most assuredly destroyed Carolina's meagre hopes. Indy/Luck defeated Denver/Manning in a stunner. And people are still arguing over whether it was a catch or not in the Cowboys contraversy-ridden loss to Green Bay.
