Five new worms .. are you protected?
I sure as hell wasn't, but I found a great "free" virus and worm scan over at TrendMicro's site .. it's called housecall
The worms I found on my pc ... sobig.e lovgate.g other worms housecalls looks for msblast.d klez.h sobig.f I found this virus scan to be very useful so i thought I'd share with ya .. http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/enterprise.htm go to the drop down menu titled "find product" click on Housecall it's like the 5th one down .. then click on scan .. you don't need to add your email it will still work .. chose the drives your gonna scan, make sure you've chosen Clean all ... and away you go Good luck |

Hey everyone how are you? :)
Just catching Vid Vicious wave here... are you protected against spyware? I'd suggest everyone to take a look into a great proggie called Ad-Aware, by Lava Soft -> www.lavasoft.com - The standard version is free and removed 20 spywares from my computer. Take care everyone, I hope all is well! Bruno Dickman |

The other one I'd highly recommend is BHO Cop. You have to sign up to download, but it's well worth it. |
Thanks for the heads up and the link ...

My Norton covers all those email worms from infection, but I still receive the emails from people who are infected. It's a pain in the butt.
At one point, I think I was deleting upwards of 100 emails per day from the sobig.32 variation. |
i think i need to get me a new update of norton..i dont think i have been infcted..but you never know

As an alternative to Norton I would recommend AVG Antivirus from www.grisoft.com
I've been using it since my Norton installation got screwed up and it's very efficient and also a lot easier on the system resources than Norton. Actually I'm not a fan of Norton at all anymore. Something got screwed up in my installation so I tried to do the standard uninstall/reinstall and that didn't work. The uninstaller ran but it didn't actually uninstall anything and reinstalling didn't fix the problem. So I manually deleted the files and deleted about 500 registry keys by hand and reinstalled again and it still wouldn't work and the uninstall was still f*ed up. So once again I deleted everything and removed hundreds of registry keys. And installed AVG. No problems since then but there are still bugs in the system from the Norton Systemworks installation. If I double-click the recycle bin it tries to open the Norton un-delete thing. I did an upgrade/reinstall of XP and it's still there. The only way to get rid of it completely is to do a full format of your HD. |
