Copyright Music.....big mistake
This is a question that keeps popping up over and over again. Should copyright music be used in our little porn productions? The answer is no. It is theft of someone's intellectual property. I see it time and again in short previews. There has been so much discussion on boards, I find it hard to believe that it is still happening. And on some big sites like Southern Charms as well the girls are playing popular songs to dance to. There are lots of ways of buying copyright free music that keep us protected. I wonder how long it will take until someone comes right up against the riaa (sp)and winds up in big doo doo. Just a warning because previous warnings seem to be getting ignored.

I believe there's a rule about this for mainstream ads. If the song doesn't last more than a certain number of seconds royalties do not have to be paid. Anyone know anything about this?

I do know you can't copyright a guitar riff or or drum beat. If I wanna make my own song using the intro to smells like teen spirit I can. Or the best example on the radio is that Jett song..thats an Iggy riff.

If I am not mistaken, the maximum amount you are allowed to take from a copyrighted work is 4 bars.
Anything over 4 bars, you must get the rights to use. Thus, this is why a musician partner of mine and I have started a company SOLELY dedicated to providing affordable music for adult porn productions. We currently have around 20 riff's for sale, and we also do custom stuff. If you would like to sample one of our loops, check it out at http://www.pubicfunk.com ICQ or Email me if you are interested in sampling our other materials or interested in buying a custom piece. |
I can't believe how common it is. The people that are doing this are probably the first to bitch and moan when someone steals their content, too.
Downloading mp3's and not paying for them is one thing, but using someone else's work commercially is a no-go as far as i'm concerned. |
if you're worried about copyrighted music - check this out HEAVYAUDIO. They provide custom music work for your productions and will also be getting premade loops and stuff up in a short while.

Using copyrighted music without permission is STEALING CONTENT. It is no different that using photos or videos you didn't pay for. (just my 2 cents)

exactly - thats why its best to go through producers such as HeavyAudio.com or others and content brokers that carry audio content.

this topic seems to never die, for years now. It seems copyright issues will always remain a sensitive issue. Goodness, I don't have the answers, but what's the difference between a girl selling her body on stage with live copyrighted music or on tape with copyrighted music? Boggles my mind, as it does many others I suppose.
