Can anyone recommend a good horror movie?

FB and I are horror movie junkies, but we're finding it hard to get a good one lately. Most are B movie flops.

Any recommendations?

is this to rent or to go watch in a theatre?

The new Excorcist is coming out soon that looks like it will be good.
I recently saw the village which I enjoyed quite a bit.
Excorcist: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368447/
The Village: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368447/

Also requiem for a Dream is an excellent movie
http://www.imdb.com/Title?0180093

That's all I can think of at the moment.

tho I have not seen it, I've heard nothing good on the Village.

the first Halloween is still a classic.

I never quite got into Rosemary's baby. A cult-type movie that seemed to never go anywhere for me.

A similar movie, The Wicker Man, I liked though.

I'm hoping the re-make of Dawn of the Dead comes out before Halloween this year. I thought it was very good!

I really like the wicker man.
It's supposed to have 3 versions.
The one mostly seen is the cut down version.

The uncut version is supposed to have more sex.

The middle version I don't know what they left in or out.

Heres a good link for checking out any movie if you already know the name of it :)

There isn't a hell of a lot of decent horror stuff coming out of Hollywood anymore. Mostly I like tha asian stuff a lot better. Ju-on as has been mentioned is quite good. I thought it was better than the original Japanese Ringu. There's also some good stuff coming out of Hong Kong and Korea.

And of course Italy cranks out a lot of good hooror stuff.

If you have a good newsserver provider check out alt.binaries.dvd.asian and alt.binaries.dvd.midnightmovies .

For a good website to find Euro movies try http://www.xploitedcinema.com/

And for asian flicks try http://www.hkflix.com/home.asp

HKFlix is also a good place to find uncut versions of a lot of the Euro movies. And most of their dvds are ntsc so all you need is a region free dvd player. If you do a little searching on Google you can find instructions on making most dvd players region free and can sometimes find new firmware to install on your player. Just make sure that it lists english subtitles or audio for the disc.

A lot of what Xploited Cinema sells is in pal format which can be played easily on a computer but need hardware that most dvd players here don't have to be able to watch them properly. It is possible to get a dvd player with a pal to ntsc converter but they aren't that common.
