Got a favourite song re-make?

One of my favourite re-makes of all time is:

Have a Cigar, by Pink Floyd.

The Foo Fighters did a very cool version of it a couple years ago.
Let me know if you want a copy and I'll put it up somewhere.

What are your faves?

Come on Eileen remade by Save Ferris!

Ounique 11-09-2004 07:44 PM

Annie Lennox - No More I Love You's and Wait In Vain. They're from a whole album of covers but those two are the best, imho. :)

Generally I HATE covers but my fave remake of all time is Joan Jett's version of I Love Rock And Roll . The original by the Arrows is good but the woman owns that song ever since. Interestingly, Britney Spear's version may be one of the worst versions ever.

modF 11-11-2004 11:44 AM

I'm a big fan of remakes, esp of 80's songs.

ie:

Land of Confusion - In Flames
Watch out here I come - Orgy (I think off)
If the Kids are United - Rancid
Relax - Powerman 5000
We are only gonna die - Sublime

My wife tells me that Tool/Perfect Circle has made a newer version of Imagine, but I've not yet heard it.

Faith No More did justice to their version of War Pigs

LAJ 11-11-2004 12:12 PM

Anything by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes... they take lame songs and make em great!

Torn Rose 11-11-2004 12:20 PM

“Sympathy for the Devil” the original was good, but I like the GnR version much better.

For whatever reason, MC Hammer popped into my head. I've never listend to NKOTB directly, but my cousin was obsessed with them. I remember she hated Hammer because he did one of their songs or something crazy like that.

O<s>ZZ</s>Y doing STAYING ALIVE is a very memorable one ...

"I AM DISCO MAN!!"

GOD 11-12-2004 06:24 AM

Also liked TYPE O NEGATIVE's versions of <b>Cinnamon Girl</b> (N.Young) and <b>Summer Breeze</b> (Seals & Crofts)

Eddie Vedder and company also did a very good version of <b>Last Kiss</b> (Frank Wilson & the Caviliers)

For the record, the O<S>ZZ</S>Y remake of Staying Alive is not a sampling .... O<S>ZZ</S>Y actually did it with Dweezil Zappa (Franks twisted son) :D

Well worth locating on your favorite P2P program

thruma 11-12-2004 11:11 AM

Type O Negative's version of Black Sabbath was really good too.
