(I'm jumping the gun a bit, I've got almost 15 minutes until noon, but what the heck, I'll just wildcat a bit and make up my own rules!)
I know a lot of people who don't drink coffee, and I swear I don't know how they function. I can't get the fog out of my brain until halfway into my second cup.
For decades, it was my role in life to wake other people up. (And make the coffee.) I always thought there was nothing worse than having a foggy, grouchy person wake one up, so I perfected the fake, cheerful "Good morning, time to get up!" voice. (That was for the first time and the second time...the third time I had to call someone, it got ugly.)
Somewhere around my 25th anniversary I informed my husband that he was on deck with that "making the morning coffee" thing for the *next* 25 years.
