Stephen Harper is a ‘designate’ no longer.
The Conservative leader has been sworn in as the country’s 22nd prime minister by Governor General Michaelle Jean at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.
Harper arrived at the Governor General’s residence in a minivan, accompanied by his wife and two children.
