I'm looking into open source content management software and you could use some of these like joomla or mambo to create/customize a site with a blog as a part of it... as well as photo content, news, etc...
I vote for wordpress from research even if I'm still working out of blogger
Though i've heard issues about wordpress and search engine friendliness... anybody else?
