My Mom passed away years ago. I finally got over feeling morbidly depressed and sorry for myself on Mother's Day, but it took a very long time. I think about my Mom on Mother's Day, though, and what I'd do for her if I could. (It would involve chocolates and pistachio ice cream.)
Luckily, I'm crazy about my mother-in-law. I sent her flowers. It's fun to send that woman flowers because she enjoys them so much. Some people say "thanks for the flowers, they're beautiful." She describes each and every bloom in the bouquet.

This arrangement had, to quote, "a really pretty big pink thing" in it.

(She recognized the carnations and the irises, but was a little shaky on the rest of them.) I also sent her a card and an e-card, and threatened the lives of my children if they forgot to send e-cards to their Nana.

(They remembered.)
