Let me try to field this one if I can..
If you're getting 1000 clicks through to the sponsor from your gallery, I'd guess that the gallery itself got (based on a 2% CTR) 20K hits itself, which is pretty high to begin with.
1000 clicks will hopefully get you 4 or 5 signups, and depending on the sponsor program you should get at least 2 of those to carry on to a full monthly membership. In fact at least one of the initial signups is hoped to be a monthly itself.
It's a big numbers game, and lots of variables as you can tell. But you get a feel for it after awhile. Dugmor does this all day long, every day.
