I have an old Logitech QuickCam too....

It sits on the top of my monitor .... but I never turn it on .... dont really see the point. I occasionally hit it for new pics when I get cool toys or clothes and want to show them off (like my x-nations shirt)

But to leave it on constantly while I am working would drive me insane...
