Trust me, you don't want to be in the donut business. I used to own 2 Dunkin Donuts in upstate NY. It was hell. You are open 24/7/365 and there are always huge headaches around the clock you have to deal with. The day never ends. You must rely on teenagers making near minimum age to come to work and act professionally. The margins are great selling coffee and donuts but boy do you need huge volumes to make a dime. It almost put me in my grave from the stress, and I sold them after 5 years and moved to Silicon Valley and started up an Internet company.
Krispy Kreme may be a much better venture since they do such massive volumes you can afford f/t managers and ass't managers to look after the place... Trouble is Krispy Kreme awarded master franchisees to large players (the guys who have Vancouver franchise rights also have them exclusivelly for all of Western Canada, Alaska, Washington, Hawaii and Oregon). So its next to impossible to open one up on your own.
