The best thing I've found for removing toolbars and other BHO's is called HijackThis. Check out

After you run the scan you can delete any toolbar. However a lot of them also use a program that runs to restore the toolbar if you dump it so you might have to reboot in safe mode and then use hijackthis to remove the toolbar's "helper" to get the fix to stick. Adaware is total garbage for most of the newer and more hostile stuff that's out there and the other Spybot type progs aren't much better.
