NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old Ohio man who was killed early Friday morning in the French Quarter.
The man apparently had been walking on Bourbon Street at around 3 a.m. with two acquaintances when he became involved in an argument with three men. Authorities say the argument subsided and everyone involved dispersed.
A short time later, police say one of the three men from the earlier confrontation allegedly hit the victim, causing him to fall.
According to investigators, paramedics responded to a call at around 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Bourbon and Iberville streets.
Police say an autopsy shows that the victim died as a result of a blow to the head.
Neither the victim's hometown nor his name was released, pending notification of his relatives. Police spokesman Sergeant Paul Accardo says investigators indicate the victim was working in New Orleans.
Crimestoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of whomever was responsible for the man's fatal injuries.
