Newcomer to the industry
Hey X Nations. I just wanted to say Hello to everyone and introduce myself. I am, well just get to it... a newbie to the adult industry. I have been a self taught webmaster for about a year and half now.
I have pretty good html and photoshop skills. I am hoping to read alot of posts from the veterans of the industry and get some pointers. I have 2 sites up right now
First site I made
My Follow up
I am a bit stuck on the marketing strategy of the adult industry. So I will be reading alot and then re-reading alot. Hopefully I will soak up the knowledge from the posts here.
Well thats enough for now. I hope to meet and greet with all of you soon.
Till then its on to reading...

Hi, David!
I'll take a gander at your sites a bit later. I'm currently doing the "multitasking tango."

I did alot of reading on another forum and they all suggest having a tgp and a paysite. They say having both will more less double your chances on becoming successful in the industry.
I have all the links on the second site going directly to my sponsers.
Thats why I am looking in different forums and getting more advice.

David...that is the best piece of advice you've probably gotten so far in your career. Whomever sent you off in the direction you're heading was dooming you to failure.
A novice webmaster needs to master the simple, basic freesite before attempting anything else.
More to follow on that....

That is where I am most confused. The diference between the 3. I undersatnd that tgp's are thunmbs and links. But what is a basic layout for a free site. If I could get a basic layout idea then I can optimize a layout of my own and make it unique. Of course not getting the source and copying it. I just need a basic layout.
I have 2 different layouts I have been working with, they are
Firt Layout
Second layout
I have heard that the first layout looks like a top list and as for the second layout I have gooten a tgp with to many banners?
Could you please give me your opinion on those layouts and also a general basic layout for a free site?
Greatly Appreciated
Thank You

David...stay tuned for a coming thread. "The Simple, Basic Free Site" by Morgan Grayson. (I'm multi-tasking furiously here, both on and off the computer, but I promise I'll get to it as soon as I can.)
I'll walk you through the layout, page by page.
All contributions by established and novice webmasters will be both welcome and encouraged.

You're most welcome, darlin'!
You see...*everyone* was once a newbie. Every webmaster out there was once standing at the beginning: confused, scared, unsure which of the conflicting advice and opinions were best and totally expecting to fall flat on his or her face. Most of us did, in fact, fall flat on our faces. That's how we learned. Some of us got great advice, too. And a few of us decided we owed a debt because of the people who helped us along the way.
I owe a debt to a lot of people. I can't repay the debt by teaching anything to *them,* really. (Unless they want a quickie course in conjugating the verb "fuck." ) [I'm a writer, in case you didn't know that, and I write hardcore porn stories for the adult 'net.] So I repay the debt by teaching other newbies. And thus the circle goes round....

Not to get personal, The reason I got into this industry is because I am laid off super for a construction company and I needed to try and provide for my family. Where I live is a little small hick town where the closest jobs are 1 1/2 hours away. the company i was working for supplied me with a compnay vehicle so when I got laid off there it stuck me and the wife having only one vehicle. She has a good job so I cannot ask her to quit so I can find something. Besides that I draw unemployment off the company and cant afford to lose that.
To make a very long story short I decided to give the adult industry a try. I have made extra money on the side by creating sites for people I know and have been refered to. I am hoping with all the knowlegde I learn will allow me to make a living and support my family. I am not in it to make 1000,s a week ( i wouldnt give it back though..lol) I just want my family to live comfortable.
Ok I think I probably said enough...lol

I have belonged to many forums since I have gotten into web design But I have NEVER seen such helpfull and good people. Alot of forums I have been to most of the "veterans" feel they are good for you. I was raised that we are the same and everyone needs help sometime.
I might not know that much about the adult industry but my way of giving back to the community of old and new adult websters is offering free hosting. So if you know anyone that is in need please send them my way.

Agreed!
(Besides, gut spilling is cathartic!)
I don't think *any* of us said "I want to be a porn webmaster when I grow up!" We all sort of fell, tripped, side-stepped or otherwise woke up one morning and muttered "hey...I do porn for a living! Who'd a thunk it???"
To return your confidence, David, I'm extremely limited in my options due to physical disability. It's either work at home or don't work at all. All I'm aiming for is supplementing my husband's income. (Like you, I wouldn't kick a fortune out of bed, though!) I'm a writer, did phone sex for a while, then started writing porn stories...and building freesites. I've been in and out of the business since 1997 - which makes me an "oldster" in some ways and a "born again newbie" in others.
You're already doing one of the absolute best things a newbie can do, which is occasionally called "networking." (It's also called "yacking on a message board" sometimes. ) It gets your name out. It makes people familiar with you. You'll meet people, make friends and acquaintances, get advice or get pointed in the right direction to get advice. You'll learn. You'll learn a *lot.*
I can tell you from my impressive amount of experience with message boards - depending, of course, on how easily one is impressed! - that this is a great message board on which to do networking, learning and the very crucial "yacking." (Believe me, there will be days when coming here and just venting will save your sanity and may save a life.)

The one thing I have learned is. Don't get to involved in your work...Meaning keep both hands on the keyboard...lol
OK time for some critisize from experience webster. I spent 5 hours trying to perfect this. I made the video images on the left and the banner on the bottem myself using PS.
Please let me know your opinions.

Sorry, I guess I could have been more clear. I apoligize.
Is this what a tgp is supposed to look like? I am going to use the images on the lower right to go to other pages of the site to create a kind of tgp site.

Putting this as gently as possible...no, you're not.
You have to learn to crawl before you can walk before you can run.
Your attempting the 100-yard dash without learning the "crawling" part. I point to your question "is this what a tgp is supposed to look like?" as proof of that.
Let's start out with the simple, basic freesite. Pic out a set of 20 pics and we'll go from there. 20 pics that you have license to use, of course, and preferrably not sponsor pics, although we can work with those if we have to.
My ICQ is 220769506
