(VIDEO) Are ethics important in adult? Who would you choose to be for a day?
Adult Insights Ep 12 Video
Well, it's my first official post on Xnations... and it's about time! Thanks to Chris and Greg for all of their help. So without further ado...
Are ethics important in adult? Or does working in an industry that isn't publicly embraced by society give you carte blanche for how you create your business?
Today's answers are provided by Jim from Almighty Content, Kenny B from IA Cash, Elli from Streamray/Cams.com, Vic from Kick Ass Pictures, Sagi from Adult Friend Finder, Dwreck from Webcam Cash and Scott from Traffic Dude.
And special thanks to Yappo Dollars for their support.
"Are ethics important?"
Jim: "I think there's a major misconception (that the adult industry) is the underbelly of the business world."
Kenny: "It's important to treat everybody with respect if you'd like that respect."
Elli: "You need to be able to sleep with yourself at night."
Vic: "I wouldn't moralize and say everyone needs to where a white hat."
Sagi: "There are a lot of things you can get away with... ethics are very important."
Dwreck: "There's more ethics in adult than some of my friends in the mainstream business world."
Scott: "Ethics always mattered but they matter more now than they ever did."
Following that we ask some people who they'd choose to be for a day industry and Vegas Ken from The Best Porn gives one of the best, if not most conflicted, answers ever. We also chat with She Devil from Think Pink Online, Rob from Live Bucks, Benoit from Express Pro, Michael (formerly) from Verotel, Dirty D from How I Got Rich, HoneLynn from High Def Riches/Sunny Dollars and Mario from Loaded Cash.
Are ethics really important in adult? Are issues like SEO spam or shaving sales really a big deal if nobody knows they're being hurt? Who would you choose to be for ONE day?

I really liked Dwecks answer - hit home for me since there are times that I had thought the opposite. Finally, my ol' friend Ken who said, "wait I dont want to be Jenna. thats a chick!!".. paraphrasing just after Mario said it.. funny

Always great clips Doug, nice work...
But with that said I love to see people comment on ethics wearing a shirt who's sites are plastered on all the tube sites ;-) Kind of Ironic

Conru would still be on my short list for people I'd like to be for a day, though. Ethics aside (and I can deal with that in fairytale land), big business is something to stare at in wonder and appreciation.

This is interesting to me, because it's something I questioned a lot before I got into the industry. I think that it's no different than a lot of other businesses, in the sense that we provide a service people want and we provide jobs for people who need them, but some people in the business are ethical and some aren't and I'd work with them or not depending on what I thought of how they behaved, just like any other business.
Personally I'm very careful about who I affiliate with and I do my research, because this is a fairly underground industry and abuses can happen easily and I would hate to find that someone I was working with was really unethical. In a business where so many people work together but don't know each other and where so much content is just knocked up in somebody's basement, I think it's important to be careful. I wouldn't want to work with someone I felt would drown a sack of live kittens, ya know?:P

Yessir. The problem is that if you do any decent business at all, in any industry, you're going to cross paths with the kitten-killers. The question is: when you find one, do you stand on the top of your rock and scream that you've found them... or do you simply choose to send your business elsewhere?

Welcome to Xnations Doug. Good video and excellent topic.
Good ethics are a must, should you call a company out? Maybe, but I gave up on saving the world a long time ago. Word of mouth goes a long way in this biz...

Growing up, I always wanted to save the world. It was a great dream. It still is. It just takes a group of people willing to walk the high (and hard) road. I just don't know that adult is there yet. For all the people that say the days are long gone, it sure feels like the "wild west" when you look at the way some people do business here...

Yeah, it's a bit like Hollywood 50 years ago, tripping horses with wires. Maybe we need certification: "No porn actors were harmed in the making of this film." Maybe not:P

Ethics and morals, I wasn't completely prepared for that question, thanks for including me.

HAHA! I loved your response, though. I mean BHB isn't quite my thing but I can understand that there's a market for it and I can understand that there are people who are willing to do it if they're paid well enough. I have no issues with "ethics" there. It's those other (non-IA Cash) videos where I'm just not so sure that the model(s) signed up for everything they were getting that make me want to hurl.
Again, tighter controls wouldn't be a bad thing in this biz.

Ethics and Morals and Money don't quite go together in this industry.
Honestly, how many programs accepted spam until it was just to dangerous to do so.
How many programs have some of their clips on site like redtube when it's clear that redtube as shitlaod of stolen content.
Money talks and good guys with ethics will be a step back from the money hungry entrepreneurs.

If they don't go together, it's because the industry as a whole doesn't want them to go together. We could all live quite nicely with tighter controls.

I agree 1000% And that is why way back in the day around 2001 in a discussion I told someone that adult should be a regulated business.

I think this is different than many other businesses have nothing.
