Tube sites

A lot of drama surrounding tube sites lately in the online adult community.
So what's the big beef apart from the obvious?

I say it's crazy.
It's ok to give out all your content in the form of pics and vids for gallery makers, but posting them on a tube site isn't ok?

30 second or 1 minute clips, where you CAN control what you put IN the clip mind you (by not showing the money shot for example), is a far cry from full videos. No?

I don't think most people have a problem with tube sites using hosted galleries or shorter clips. They have a problem with tube sites posting FULL videos WITHOUT approval...meaning it's stolen.

I know a lot of people hate the whole "adapt or die" attitude, but it's always been part of this industry...think of all the changes made in the last 10-12 years. There have been a lot of companies come and go, that for one reason or another didn't adapt.

A lot of it also comes down to "Why allow someone else dictate to you how you run your business?"

But for you and Chris. I run a network, not a site, but a NETWORK of tube sites. So, because it's MY business, it's okay for me to take the full custom videos from adultpaymaster and teenrevenue and put them on my network? I'll leave the watermark, but the links and banners will be to other programs.

I imagine you'll say no, that's not okay because it's fucking with MY business. Okay, fair enough.

But, until you FIND them all, I'll just build up my traffic to sick levels using content from every sponsor I can find, you guys included. When approached to remove a video, I'll comply...on that one site of course. You'll have to find the other ones. Oh, and a couple of weeks later, I'll throw the video up again. Of course, it wasn't ME who put it up...it was submitted.

Once I feel I have enough traffic to make it worthwhile, I'll contact sponsors, one by one, to see if I can work WITH them. YOU may be at the top of the list starting with an A and all, but poor Chris is shitass at the bottom. So, he'll have to wait a while while I continue to use his videos to increase the traffic that I send to you, because you've now agreed to let me use 5 minute clips.

Then again, I'm a jackass and I just MAY start at the bottom of the list, so I'll use YOUR videos to build up the traffic that I send to Chris.

All sarcasm aside, with new technology, this was inevitable.

If all the porn sponsors on the planet agreed to ONLY offer low resolution SOFTCORE pictures for promotional purposes, meaning NO videos or clips at ALL, and NO hardcore, there is at least ONE sponsor who is going to want an edge. They'll offer hardcore pictures. Then a few will see the benefit of that and they'll offer high res hardcore pictures. Someone will see that and decide to run low res 10 second softcore videos. Then someone will run 20 second hardcore clips. Then someone....

If a robber breaks into my house and steals $10,000 dollars from me and I catch him, I don't agree to give him $1000 and tell him where my neighbors hide THEIR cash just to keep away from mine. Even though, I'd be protecting MY home.

but.. Who gives all their content (pics and vids) to gallery makers?

We give clips and pics but we dont give full length videos or complete galleries. that would go against the whole concept of free galleries.

We want to tease them to point where they want to get inside the site.
Not satisfy them so they dont..

It is insane how many full free videos there are on tube sites and torrent sites. Within a few hours you can sometimes find newly released DVD´s etc.

Dont like that.

We had this argument in 1999 then in 2002 as broadband expanded and MGP's took over. Now it's tube sites and longer clips and in a couple of years there will be something else and more and more content.
The law suits will start flying fast and furious and will be interesting to see what happens.

Regardless the 5 minute + flash clips are here to stay.

It'll be nice to see some of the larger guys start with the lawsuits and see where that goes.

For sites that offer high quality clips and HD video's they won't be affected as much by the tube sites. The quality of the clips from the flash tube sites is lousy, so it will force pay site owners to up the quality for their sufers to join and stay

what he said... short clips, 2-3 min are not a big deals, they are a great sales tool actually, but full lenght can hurt i agree

Maybe a little off topic but,
Along with tube sites and all the other free stuff we must be the number one industry giving away what we sell.
I just heard of one affiliate program with 25 min promo clips in their webmaster area.
Perhaps one of the biggest problems we now face is the affiliate model that encourages "webmasters" to go out and push all the free content they can get to make a buck.
Then we all sit and bitch about it.
Surfers are getting more educated every day, and lets face it there is nothing in porn you have to pay to see if you look hard enough.
I am afraid we are fucking this industry up and it will get far worse before it gets any better.

I think what we'll see is more programs making legal tube site with short promo videos, and other sites that don't follow this format will be sued one at a time and will go away.

It's no different than YouTube. They can't use copyrighted videos and I'm sure their legal department is rather large. Smaller sites without a huge legal department won't be able to keep up with demands to take stuff down and will end up selling out or shutting down.

The concept that "message boards" and "website owners" aren't liable for content it's users post up is starting to wear thin. It's one thing of I come onto XN here and post two or three pictures that don't belong to me, but it's another thing if I post up an entire set of 120 pix from one company.....

I wonder if some of this is from affiliates who are given access to site members areas.
I'm not clear on how or where the videos are coming from (I've not done any work with tube sites), but I can see how allowing affs into a members area could be a problem for tube sites.
