If she chooses the right man as her father, she wins the $100,000. If she chooses the wrong man, he gets the $100,000. Of course these people are going to agree to meet for the first time because $100,000 is at stake. It is really sad and pathetic. Then to share this "magic moment" with hundreds of thousands of viewers is lame as well. Talk about starting a relationship under false pretenses.
FOX knows people will tune in to see what happens. They will make the $100,000+ spent on each episode 100 times over.
How many people would agree to be a part of the show if the $100,000 was non existent? Some would agree to it because being seen on TV is important to them. Maybe for some, it will lead to them getting discovered or advance their career. Even still, I think a lot more people would think twice if the money was not offered.

I saw the woman that is going to pick out her Dad in an interview and she stated the only reason she agree'd to do it this way is because she was told her father really wanted to meet her....
There are a lot of pissed off peeps who is trying to get it off the air....the producers of course say that once the viewers see the first episode they will Love the show, it is not what we think .
Personally, I am sick of these Drama shows cuz they are not reality!!!

I'm still waiting for "Murdered by America" where 9 lucky contestants get $1,000,000 dollars each and an unlucky 10th is executed in front of a live studio audience based on votes from the pubilc.
And before you just giggle.. you know it's gonna happen eventually, don't you?

It sounds crazy but I can totally believe it will come to that at some point.
The way things are going these days reminds me of those futuristic movies from the old days about apocolyptic futures and brutal and poluted societies.
Examples:
Running Man
Road Warrior
Soylent Green
But those are fiction.

Gotta give props to fox for their genius marketing. As was stated, they know blokes will tune it in.

Of course she guessed who her father was, and of course she found her real parents, but the protestors are right, whgat about the family and the parents who adopted her, they are her real family!
