Can You Spot Those Dying Aff Programs?

It seems that more and more affiliate programs are closing down. Leaving the poor affiliates unpaid.
Can anyone give tips on how to spot a dying program? It may be helpful for most - they/we can avoid that kind of program as early as possible.

Good question and hard to monitor since the decision is usually done from the top down and rarely affects the website until too late. My first thought would be missed or delayed payments that are more than once and how frequent. Second would be talking to your affiliate manager - ya they aren't suppose to say anything, but trust me - when someone gets nervous about their job they not only complain but start looking for work.

It's difficult to tell by content since many do purchase months in advance or rotate old content hoping no one notices. Watch the webmaster boards and take notice of webmasters complaining not getting paid
