California
There's just something about California. So many songs have been written not only about the state, but cities and towns in California, the people, the women, even roads in California.
California has been and remains a magnet. For those of you that are living out there, tell us... are you originally from there? Or did you arrive from someplace else looking for the good life in that state?

born and raised. Love visiting other places, but can't imagine living anyplace else.
example from when I was younger and had time to play as I pleased...
in the spring, we had the rough decisions to make...
1.5 hours or less to the coast to play in the ocean or go to the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk amusement park on the ocean...
less than an hour to hit the Sacramento river delta for boating/water skiing - or any one of several lakes...
about 2 hours to go to Lake Tahoe area for the tail end of the years snow skiing...
rough life... LOL now mind you, that was from the San Francisco Bay area, not everybody in CA has those types of choices.

i'm not from California but my bro lives there around Sta. Clarita area and that place is magnificent.
there's so much to do in Cali - the cost of living is higher than where i live now but the view is priceless.

I've always wanted to live there, but at the same time all the talk of a huge earthquake scares me away.

I've lived in Riverside CA my whole life.
We're about an hour away from LA. It's really nice over here. The air isn't the cleanest, but there's lots of sites to see and things to do. I also couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

I guess growing up here, we really don't think about earthquakes much. Yes, they are very real and I remember the 1989 quake very well along with a few other biggies. Compared to other forces of nature that different parts of the world consider 'normal', I'll take earthquakes over tornadoes in the midwest... hurricanes in the Gulf Coast and Eastern seaboard... living in snowpack 4-6 months out of the year...
I think it's all about what somebody is used to. A big earthquake might happen every 75-100 years. Frankly, in my area, I'm far more concerned about a big flood than I am about an earthquake.

I have only ever been to LA and I liked what I saw. It's very dense. That's definitely something I noticed right away. It's all built up areas with little or no break. A drive down Ventura boulevard will show you that. Last summer I went to see Pirates in July during a visit to LA and I could not believe the size of the theatre. It must have held 1000 people in it.
The parts of LA that I have seen have been clean, and I was taken with Santa Monica and the beach and pier. Really beautiful sights there and a most impressive beach.

My wife is from Riverside! I moved her out of the State 8 years ago though, but we're close, just in Vegas. We visit often, but not to Riverside. Her parents moved to Thousand Oaks (beautiful area) and her grandma owns a bunch of property in Santa Monica. We visit both places as much as we can, but work and now this site has got me wayyyy too busy.
I love Cali, wish I could live there

How cool! Thousand Oaks and Santa Monica are sooo beautiful! If I could live up there I would. Not that I don't love living in Riverside, but both those places are so gorgeous! They're just so expensive too...So for now, I must remain here It must be great living in Vegas though. Vegas rocks, I can't wait to go back and visit

No place like Cali. I wouldn't live anywhere else, but i like the whole west coast. Although I live in the LA area i prefer San diego and La Jolla. I drive down to San Diego as much as I can, plus I can jump the border and party also.

I grew up in a very small town in NJ. I remember reading about California when I was a kid and "dreaming" about living there.
I had a plan when I was a kid. I guess I was smart for my age. I was in a cooking program in high school, where we had a small cafe in the school. I also worked as a night manager at a cafe in town. My plan was to go into the Marines as a cook (sounds gay now), and then off to a cooking college.
Well, I made it into the Marines but ended up in Infranty.
When I got out the girl I was dating was from California near San Francisco. I didn't want to return home to my small town, and I surely didn't want to stay in Jacksonville, NC, with all of the other former Marines who became cab drivers.
So I came out to California with my g/f, ended up working for the phone company, went to college, and now I'm in the porn industry.
I moved to Phoenix to work for Lightspeed Cash, but when ICS asked me to move to Northern California I jumped at the chance. I now live near Sacramento, California, and have no plans to move.
It's beautiful here. There is no traffic, no smog, and the weather is nice. I'm not far from Tahoe, Reno, and San Fran. My best friend lives an hour away, as does my mother.

I'd be very out of place in California.. LOL
I could live there just fine but I'd stick out like a sore thumb.

I have spent alot of time in the SoCal area. La and the OC.
I have dreamed of California my whole life. Living there is my ultimate goal, but it is really expensive I find... Visiting is always fun. Last Spring I spent 3 mos out there.
Here is what I dig...
Santa Monica. WOW! My first time there I fell in love. The beach, the pier, the energy. Down the road tot he south Venice Beach, Long Beach, Huntington, all favourites. I surf so Huntington is particularly attractive to me. Actually PCH the drive from Zuma beach to San Clemente, just fabulous...
Los Angeles.. well there is this girl who lives in East LA who makes my stomach tingle. The bars, the lights, the action of Hollywood Santa Monica Blvd, the viper Room, the Whiskey, classic spots
And then there is the OC. Oh man, I lived in Fullerton for 3 mos and I swear it was like a little piece of heaven.
Great thread Chris
