Greetings and some Q's from a newbie

Hello all,

New to the board and somewhat new to the industry. I've recently been engaged to get into porn websites, and although a few years ago I experimented with a couple of free gallery pages (attempting to build enough traffic to reach conversion rate with the affiliate program -unsuccessfully) I have been doing tonsof research and found that I should network and socialize a little and learn as much as possible.
So here I am on the boards, searching forums and reading reading reading. Hopefully make some good aquaintances and contacts and maybe some friends too.
As for my questions:
Does this board have a majority of business oriented posts or social oriented posts?
Do members here generally make sufficient income or are they hobbists?
And finally, how many posters use other boards (and which ones if any)?

Xnations has a pretty ratio of business to social post.

The members here know what they are talking about so i suspect most of them are in the industry for a living.

I personaly visit 10 message boards on a regular basis. Plus I use boardtracker to monitor other boards for interesting posts.

To answer your questions, this board rocks!

There's a good bit of both business and social posts, and everyone here is knowledgeable and helpful. Everyone also reads and posts on other boards.

Do you have a plan for a new site, or will you try gallery submission again?

I'm thrilled to learn that this is a business and social environment, also I look forward to getting to and picking at the brains of the well of knowledge the posters here offer. If I have any knowledge anyone wants just ask!

In regards to visiting 10 boards!!! regularly - what constitutes regularity for you biweekly, weekly, semi-weekly, daily?!

And with regards to my plan - well I was thinking I'd detail out the deathray device and then contact the UN to deliver my world domination altimatum then....oh wait wrong plan.
I am looking at what is required to start up a small inexpensive but unique paysites (we - being the royal we for I, with association of my two business partners - We have two site ideas to date). And creating a series of free gallery sites to list on TGP's, Link Lists, TopLists, etc., etc.
The eventual goal is to transplant the affiliate links of the Free sites with links to our paysites once sufficient traffic is generated, and the paysites are of a size and proportion that would impress the free site visitor.

There is more of course, and additional ideas and plans which go intomaking the networked web of our future porn empire, but hopefully this info is helpful for now - that you my critique and advise.

I read about 5 boards on a daily basis myself. I feel this board is one of the most helpful ones around, and the social aspect is really good.

As for your plans for paysites, my first advice would be to think of the finances with some pessimism (spelling?) because most people come in and say "Ok, so within a week I'll be able to make 5 sales a day" and all that. I would suggest to do your free site stuff first, generate your traffic. Once you're able to makes sales for an affiliate program, you know that you can most likely convert your own program and at that point, invest in your sites.

It is a fair amount to invest.

You are definitely right. It does help to socialize and get to know people. There's a variety of people here, from people just beginning to get into the adult business to the seasoned veterans. The people here are friendly and they will take the time to offer their advice or point you in the right direction. Overall, we have a good mix of goofing around and business.

There is a search button in the top navigation. This nifty little feature can help you dig through the archives. A lot of good advice can be found burried in the archives.

Even still, if you've got questions, just ask them. Someone will be along to answer it or point you in the right direction.
