Blog related question
I have a handful of adult blogs, but I also have some non-adult, television related ones.
I am wondering what people think here. Is it easier, or tougher to start getting good SE results to your blog if it is non-adult? What about the adult ones?
In my limited experience with SE traffic to my blogs, I find it easier to get it for non-adult, but I'd still like to have some feedback on this.

I'm working on a few mainstream blogs at the moment. Mostly tattoos and music bands.

I don't have a non adult blog so I can't help much here.
I think if your going for SEO and or traffic, the best type of blog to have is a blog about blogging.

I have both mainstream and adult handwritten blogs. Each blog is very focused on a specific niche. I didn't think it was any more difficult to get some search engine love for my adult blogs as it was my mainstream blogs. I concentrated on a small amount at a time and nurtured them, then added another.

Personally I only recently started a couple of mainstream blogs and they both have generated nice se traffic.

Well I am starting to see better Google placements on a non-adult blog right now, and it's due to smart link exchanges.
I'll keep monitoring things and maybe apply what I've learned to adult blogs.

Chris, I'd say it's a lot easier to get good SE traffic to a mainstream blog now. There are a lot of non-recip directories mainstream directories you can submit your blog to (while adult sites are not accepted on most of them), you can successfully build a community using other community sites (e.g. Yahoo groups, Myspace and etc.), you can use viral markting tools and not be afraid that your content won't be accepted.
The only question is - what are you going to sell through a mainstream blog? As many mainstream products are a lot harder to sell than adult site subscriptions, I think that's the main thing you should think about when starting a mainstream blog.
And, I know some successful mainstream experiences with AdSense

I have a dental blog. All the posts are handwritten and unique. There is AdSense on the blog and paid product reviews, (which are limited because I didn't want my blog to be one of those types of blogs). When the blog matured, I started to sell ad spots on the blog. The spots are limited and targeted. I won't just accept any Joe Blow who has a health related ad to advertise on my blog.
It's just another example of how to work a mainstream blog. I don't sell any products or services myself. I built the blog to later be able to sell advertising on it.

Mainstream blogs are more acceptable and accessible everywhere, so you could sink in a sea of otherblogs unless your SEO is very SE scrumptious...
Or you could check out the competition and see how they rank on the SEO and the SERPs level...
I like seeing that "the other guy" is weaker than me on the optimization level, and basically make the next-highest my target, and do tracking crackdowns for a little while (obsessively check stats :P ).
Just to keep being long-winded...
I think it's easier for mainstream, though, since so much of mainstream isn't so much about quality but quanity, getting ripped off on impressions-based advertising, and don't forget there's a hell of a lot of crap out there too (both on the bad-site basis and on a bad-SE marketing basis).
