What is the first record you ever bought?
If you can remember, what's the first record you ever bought with your own money?
For me it was KISS ALIVE from 1975. I remember the look on my Mom's face when I got it.
She seemed to be pleased that I was liking this kind of music.
And I never even went on to be an extreme metal/hair band fan but I really enjoyed that recording.

I wish I could remember exactly which it was.. All I remember is that i NOW would hate the same records I once loved.. ;-)
When I bought records for the first time, I just filled up the cart with what was playing at the radio at the time.. BLAH.. ;-)

You know, those were simpler times. When a six year old could sing songs with the word "lover" in them and people didn't freak or try to make it dirty. I had a Donny Osmond album when I was a kid and he must have been a pre-teen singing "Last of the Red Hot Lovers". What was it about that family?
The first album I bought with my own money, as far as I can remember, was Blondie's Eat To The Beat. Still one of my favorite albums of all time.

First album I ever bought was "Lodger" by David Bowie.
The album I bought last week was....
"We're Only In It For The Money" by Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention from 1968 (before my time) but a really cool album.

damn... I went through my personal eras of both Bowie and Zappa.
I kind outgrew the Bowie thing, but Zappa remains one that I can listen to over and over. Joe's Garages, Apostrophe/Overnight Sensation are two favourites but really, they have too many to even mention.

An example of how far ahead of his time Zappa was.
This is an interview with Zappa about censorship
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F272-2A2FDo
A couple of political predictions that Zappa makes are now coming true.

I remember that... In Frank's final years he was very outspoken about censorship and those little black warning labels on records and CDs in particular.

I remember when his album Jazz From Hell got a warning sticker...he was amused because it was an all instrumental album, haha
I also recomend his book The Real Frank Zappa Book for anyone who's a fan (even non-fans will enjoy the book).
