Default Harddrive Data Recovery Software?

Anyone know about or have used any harddrive data recovery software? I'm looking around but just don't know too much about them and what works and what doesn't.

http://www.r-tt.com/RStudio.shtml I found this one.

Any feedback is appreciated.

just looked at that site, i would never try that software. but i do my own thing.

Q. Do you have a crashed harddrive or just deleted something?

if my harddrive crashes, i would use my unix box to recover if any lost data, "# mount -t" but if i just deleted something that was really big and i had no other way of bringing it back, i would rerun ghost and or just load the re-writeable cd into the rom and load my last saved...

With U&I connectivity, the LaCie DVD-RAM drive can be used with USB and FireWire-equipped computers such as the new iMacs, iBooks, PowerBooks, Power Mac G4s and Power Mac G4 Cubes
