A question about weight.

As many of you know, I'm a bit over weight. I'm not a cow, but I'm overweight.

Of course, being in the industry, we see a ton a very hot girls...

But if you met an overweight girl, would you be attracted if she was fun, intelligent and, yes, pretty?

Be honest...

Having been a "normal" sized girl (never really thin, just not my body type), as well as, well, quite PLUMP, I can say that in the industry, the answer I have found is about 50/50.

Personally, (and maybe this is cause im a woman) I am more interested in the personality of the person than just looks. There are guys out there that just wont give you the time of day if you aren't a size 2 model, but there are also plenty of guys out there that don't care if you are a size 2 or a size 20 - its what your brain holds that counts!

Cheers to all the brainiac chicks of the industry out there - we are loved, no matter what size our waistlines are!

Personality overcomes looks. Why would anyone want a women with no brains? Don't worry about your weight, but if you feel uncomfortable you should work on it.

I am, I'm on a strict diet and I have lost about 25 lbs so far...

I think more often than not, your looks, weight included, is a big factor in whether a man will even give you a second look much less talk to you. So at that point, he wouldn't have a clue as to your brains or personality.

Everyones tastes are different. While most guys enjoy the typical 'eyecandy' not all guys want a relationship or to bed one that's for sure.

Looks help to make a first impression, but they don't count for everything by a long shot. And when it comes to looks, weight is far from a deal breaker for me. Example, I know a girl who is bearly 5' 4", usually weighs in around 180-200, but is sexy as all get out. Why? She is comfortable with who she is, smart as heck, fun personality and understands her own sensuality. If most people were to see a pic of her, their initial reaction might be plump but on the cute side. If they took the time to get to know her, they would quickly understand my opinion of her.

There are people who have tastes for all types of shapes, sizes, brains, humors, etc. Be comfortable with who you are, be yourself and the right person will come along. May take a couple tries... but... LOL

You can see a perfect 10 n the street and yes tat might make someone initiate a conversation, but once that conversation is started, it soon becomes clear what is up for offer. I like to look beyond what meets the eye!

Excellent post! I really think it all has to do with confidence and how you carry yourself. I was skinny my whole life and never had much body confidence. When I had my two kids for the first time in my life I was slightly overweight and what little body confidence I had plummeted. I am back to being pretty thin now, not through any discipline or exercise but because I went through a very stressful period in my life where I was barely eating. It took A LONG time to start feeling good about myself even after losing the weight. I may be thin now but I have stretch marks and gravity and my boobs are not friends. My long winded point being even when I was thin with no stretch marks, heavier from pregnancies, and then thin again after there were girls left and right to me that never had a problem finding a guy that some would say were heavy or not that attractive and it was because of their confidence and personality. And once I accepted that I can be sexy and attractive to someone despite my "flaws" I found the man of my dreams.

Congrats on realizing and accepting all that you can be, regardless of "flaws" and finding the man of your dreams.

Everybody has "flaws", it's just the way things are. It's all in how we deal with the "flaws" and how we choose to react to them.

I think a very important point is being missed here - not all guys are attracted to one thing. Surely being in the industry you should know that categories from teen to MILF etc. are getting traffic regularly. Same as it is in life - not everyone is wanting to be with a skinny model - while others prefer someone with curves. Problem is we focus too much on the skinny ones only because advertising/marketing tells us too.

I am sorry but using these arguments of

1) skinny girls cheat and get hit on - (BS, I've know many plus size women who cheat)

2) men settle for curvy girls because of personality - (again, you're saying that plus size is second best and not realizing that many men/women prefer that first)

3) skinny girls is what is what I should be like - (BS, you were created to be you - unless there are health risks, love who you are - oh and btw - alot of health risks being skinny too!!)

4) I hear this all the time, "porn sites want skinny girls". - (BS, porn sites want what sells no matter if it is skinny, overweight, gay, ethnic etc etc.)

Look this is a simple matter of animal grazing fields. Sheep do not eat where wolves do or they will get eaten alive. Each animal needs to find their own spot thats ideal for them. So find men/women who are not going to make you feel eaten alive by doubts and negativity as to who you are.

If someone states anything about you - just move onto another grazing field - but worst of all - don't be a wolf in sheep's clothing attacking yourself.

I feel your pain sweetie. Some of the guys here have seen me at shows and know I'm no skinny little thing by any means. I understand where your coming from 100%. It's hard to live as a "big girl" in what is a weight obsessed society.

While I agree with the sentiments of TheLegacy and others I think that there are some aspects of being heavy come into play and are a lot harder to deal with. For instance, I'm not sure about you but I was heavy all my life and caught shit for it all my life. I can't go into a room full of people with out "knowing" that some one is talking about how fat I am. That is a learned behavior for me due to so many years of that being true.

It's a constant battle to remind myself that not every one is as weight obsessed as I am, nor are they all nasty little bastards with nothing better to do than make some one feel bad about themselves.

I will say this though, it's a mindset and not just a weight issue. If you feel like your beautiful others will also see you that way. My example? Queen Latifa. I can't count how many guys I know who think she is totally hot, even if she is over weight. But it's all about her attitude. That woman is secure in who she is and you can see it when she's on screen or in public (met her once at a mall of all places).

Lose the weight if it puts you in a better place mentally. But since there is also a mental issue at work you will have to deal with that as well or you could end up some one who loses the weight but never really sees it if you know what I mean...

I think everyone has something they look for to be physically attracted to someone. For me I like the 5 o'clock shadow. I don't really look at body type as much. I look for the facial hair.

My friend he looks only at blonde. Doesn't care if it is natural, short or long if they are fat or skinny. Just likes blondes.... We have gone out together and there would be plenty of model type brunettes and he is completely not into it.

So for some people I am sure look at body types. But everyone is different. If it is important to you to be thin then focus and stay on track and you'll get there. But you should know that being thin isn't going to bring Mr. Right or make you magically happy.

I don't think I'm going to go this year. There were a few people I wanted to meet... Some were too busy, some were not there...

I had fun with the friend I went with but as a photographer, as interesting as Vid's confererence was, I have been a photographer for 30+ years and I knew pretty much everything he said so I can't say the trip was worth it...

Plus, I'm kinda shy, believe it or not, I'm not the type to go up to people and intriduce myself so...

I'll be in Montréal sometime in July and I should have plenty of time to do stuff, I'll be visiting with my brother and sister so if anyone wants to get together... Then's the time!
