When was the last time you got pulled over?
I was thinking about it on my way to work this morning.. and (knock on wood) it's been a decade for me. Of course that time it scared the piss out of me b/c it was on Memorial day and I got caught in a speed trap and I had to take a breathalyzer test (I was underage too) but I passed with flying colors. I forgot I had a bag of empty beer bottles in my back seat we didn't want to leave at the park though! I could have gotten open container! Lucky ass!
Since then I've really tried to be careful.

Last time for me was in the late winter, early spring. I got two speeding tickets in as many weeks. Not even going fast, just over the limit in low limit zones. Hard to contest those laser devices too so I just paid.
Before that? Can't remember.... must be about 8 years or so...

Three years ago, 2005 or so. I was on my way to SoCal from Phoenix in my Mach 1.
I made this trip a dozen times a year to see family there. I drove at night because traffic is lighter. I had my Ipod, a few packs of smokes, and an over night bag - nothing else. I keep my car clean and don't like clutter. I was relaxed and in no hurry. I was going to have a fun five hour drive.
I got stuck in a patch of traffic outside of Phoenix, bumper to bumper, everyone trying to get around a line of big rigs. This fucking asshole is tailgating me - badly. My windows were tinted limo black (think Phoenix = sun = hot), and I couldn't see who was behind me. I downshift to slow down, he doesn't stop. I tap my breaks, he doesn't stop. I start becoming a dick about it, really slowing down, and he doesn't stop.
When I get up to the final truck and I see the open freeway I sort of just matched the speed of the truck for a bit - Just to piss this fucker off. Then I punched it! Before I know it I'm doing a clean 130mph.
Well, because of my window tint I didn't know it was a MARKED highway patrol car. Opps. And of course he thinks I know he's a cop and that I'm running because I'm guilty of something. He hits his lights and by the time he catches up, there's a second cop car with him.
This is classic.
He walks up to the window, none of this "May I see your driver's license sir" crap. He was all business. "STEP OUT OF THE CAR PLEASE SIR". Oh shit.
The shut down the freeway, did a full felony stop, and threw me into the back of his car. Now there is four cop cars. They come back to ask me some questions.
"Do you have any weapons in the car?" I've never owned a weapon of any type.
"Do you have any drugs in the car?" Please - I'm so anti drug it's not funny.
"Can we search the car?" Knock yourself out.
An hour later they've searched my car with dogs and found notta. I was clean as a whistle. They could have arrested me - I believe anything over 100mph in AZ is a felony - but instead they let me go with a stiff ticket, driving over 100mph.
But that's not where the story ends.
So a month later or so I go to court. I've never been to court before, but I was pretty sure there was a dress code and some rules. I left my cell phone behind in my car, and I wore a suit - No shit. I was the only one not in shorts, and one guy was kicked out of the courtroom for answering his cell phone while court was in session.
This is out in the desert in the middle of no where; High speeds are common there so there was a a lot ticket similar to mine. This was the court session where you plead guilty or not guilty - not whine bitch moan and try to offer up excuses. The judge asks how you plead and there is only one of two proper answers you can give. But of course everyone tried to get their story out and the judge just bitch slapped them. I saw people crying to the judge, offering up all kinds of stories, etc etc. I saw fines in the thousands of dollars, and lots of points on people's licenses.
So I get called up after a few hours, I walk up to the judge, and he asks how do you plead? Guilty your Honor.
The judge looked me stupid as if he was waiting for me to give some sob story. He asks "Anything else you like to add".
"No sir. I was speeding, and I'm pretty confident I was doing well over 100mph at the time when I was pulled over".
The judge looks me up and down, smiles, and says "Your ticket has been reduced to speeding at 85 mph. Fine set at $185. Have a nice day".
I'm so glad I'm Irish really.
That was my second ticket speeding at over 100mph. The first one was in 1995 - with my future wife in the car - and I got hit with a $800 fine then.

Good story. I have fought and won many tickets up here. The key to it is to accept the guilt, or part of it, otherwise you would not be there in the first place, but you have to be able to justify WHY you did what you did for a damn good reason. If you can do it right, the judge will dismiss every time especially since police officers don't go to court anymore for this kind of thing.

honesty except in small towns in the south
in may my son came down to see his sister's dance recital. he stayed a few extra days to catch up with old friends. he was on the cell talking to me ( i was in SF at cybernet). about his plans to leave when a cop got him in a speed trap. it goes from 55 to 30 at the top of a hill in no-where-land TN.
well no lets see your drivers license boy. no they ask him to step out of the car, read him his rights, cuff him and throw in jail. for a speeding ticket. They didnt let him even call home - they did let him talk to a bail bonds man though. cost us $3500 for the tow, to get his car out of the impound lot,the bail bonds man and the ticket.
a guy who was in for beating his wife and sending her to the hospital, passing bad checks and impersonating a cop only paid $80. And a pervert that i swear to god would have flashed the court room- he came in in ankle cuffs and was holding penis through his jail pants - he got a promise to never expose yourself in public again speech.
before you say anything the tow truck driver is 2nd cousin to the bail bonds man. who is married to the sister of the judge who also doubles as principal of the HS.
he is happily back in Florida where the only threat to life and limb is the occasional hurricane

I was riding a shitty car in a nice neighborhood around 2am. They just pulled me for no reason.
I don't have this problem anymore since I got a decent car.

A few months ago I had a streak where I was pulled over about 6 times in 3 weeks. I had just gotten my car and there was tint on the front windows (illegal in Jersey) that I got pulled over 2x for in just my first week. Along with the tinted windows the car just looks like something a 17 year old male would drive and I got pulled over quite often late at night. I finally got the tint off and moved out of the town I was living in where the cops are notorious for being dicks.
Out of all the times I got pulled over I did only get one ticket for talking on my cell. He could have hit me with a speeding ticket to but let that slide.

October 2006... pulled over for expired registration tabs. The fuckin cop wouldn't cut me a break even though I said I would get it taken care of immediately and I have an otherwise spotless driving record. Sure the guy was doing his job but a warning would have sufficed with a threat of a bigger fine if I didn't get it taken care of in a week. I politely let the guy know that the local P.D. would stop get donations from me at that point and that its sad that I'm getting hit when there are all these speeders around. He wasn't impressed.
