Default I think I MISSED the 1980s

I joined the US Marines in the spring of 1986. I missed a lot of the movies and songs from 86-90. Tonight just surfing around YouTube (bless them!) I came across some songs I had always liked but never saw the videos for.

Neato.

Damn, the Internet is a beautiful place.

You said neato.

Personally I have never been much for music videos. I used to watch them in the early 80s and I remember some favourites.

Rochard... check these ones out:

Genesis - Illegal Alien
KISS - I love it loud
Queen - I want to break free
Dio - Last in Line

Those are just a few I remember watching in the 80s.

I had planned on posting that I think you're both stoned... but this hazy memory of me rocking out to 80's tunes came to me just before I hit enter. Depeche Mode, New Order, U2, Pet Shop Boys, Twisted Sister, George Michael... yeah, I needed some help back then, but boy those were fun times...

I really enjoy music videos, even today, at least for most music. Lots of talent behind the video makers. Usually great direction, great editing, great art direction, etc.

However I am so FREAKIN sick and tired of Hip Hop and rap. Granted, the artists behind the camera are doing their best with yet another CRAPPY song to have to visualize, but how many more times can they shoot hoochies and chrome wheels and still call it Original? GLEAH I hate it all...

Best recent videos: "Come again" by Thornley:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=5pfA4nR6ir4
Simple, but looks and sounds great. Amazing editing, direction. Video looks as "loud" as the song. Just a cool job all around.

"Smack my bitch up", Prodigy:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=VNrhmbc0y_8
Coolest video of all time, period. Sex, Violence, and great surprise ending.

"Rock, DJ" by Robby Williams. (Best 90's video). (Is it from the 90's? )
http://youtube.com/watch?v=30fuj9ldnCg
Simple song, great video (watch it all the way through). Very surprised it ever made it to TV considering the uptight assholes that control what kids see these days..

It's not just the Music Videos - It's everything. People will make references to movies I've never seen. It's very strange really - People will talk about scenes from a movie that I've never seen yet I've heard about them so much that I know all about it.

I've never seen Sixteen Candles. I have it downstairs unopened; I'm not sure if I want to go there.

I miss the big hair.

Evil Chris knows my tastes well. If we both weren't married and we were both gay we could date.

I'm a huge Genesis fan so I've seen Illegal Alien.... As for the Queen song.... Yeah, I caught that one - it's my of my all time favorite songs too. Oddly enough, I have it in Spanish.

I think this thread steams from the fact that recently I discovered two 80s songs that scream "80s" but yet I had never heard - and both of them I can across by accident.

That's what I'm talking about. Shit like that I've missed. Know the song, never saw the video.

We didn't exactly have cable where I grew up when I left town in 1986.....

The 80's were awesome! I used to watch the Headbangers Ball on MTV a lot too. When you see some of the videos from then, some of them are hilarious. I remember when A-Ha made the Take on Me video and it was hand drawn animations. Still is an awesome video.
