Need advice on a script

If you were starting a resource site where you were adding sites by category with description, what script would you recommend?

I think there must be so many out there, so I'm asking for some advice or suggestions. If you have examples, please show me.

Try writing it yourself in PHP. It shouldn't be too hard...

If I could write PHP, I'd be a very dangerous webmaster.

I ended up buying and installing LinkX. JMBSoft has good products.
I doubt I'll need all the stuff LinkX comes with, but it's a robust little script that leaves room for growth and the price is right too.
