Summer slowdown?
It's already April. Has anyone given any thought to the low sales to come in the summer months? It would seem that some companies actually see the same numbers as always in the warm months.
How do you prepare for times with slow sales?

It might be prime time outdoor weather in one part of the world and just the opposite in another.
If you promote sites mainly geared towards the college age crowd, you might see sales slow after finals week and everyone goes home. So, promote your sites that are geared towards a different age bracket.
Maybe try special summer promotional stuff. A certain summer pricing deal for a limited time. Get them to spend some of their stored away vacation money on your sites.
Some surfers are probably thinking of the beach and all the ladies in bikinis or the body builder type guys. Use phrases geared towards this kind of thinking. "Wouldn't you just love to rub sun tan oil all over her?" Tan, toned muscles... or some generic stuff like that.

Never really noticed a slowdown last year. This year there was a slowdown during spring break though. And the war does seem to be having at least a small impact on biz.

I don't understand where this rumor started, but it is only a rumor.
There is no such thing as a summer slow down. If anything, people
jerk off more in the summer after seeing all the hot girls in bikinis
they can't have ;^)) Plus if your marketing to foregin traffic it's
always winter somewhere.
In 7 years I have never seen any difference in in summer traffic
and beleive it's U.S. webmasters that are just spending more
time fucking around, and not keeping up their work 
So quit making excuses for why your not making money and get back to work

It's not a rumour at all. Every summer sales drop until the Labor Day weekend is over.
But there are always those who attempt to grab attention in the middle of summer by saying stuff like "In July we had record sales!"...  |

One of my highest grossing months was August 2001, but I would have to agree sometimes the summer can be lean..
Last summer I opted out of sales to to development and design, I made about the same amount of money and got to slack off a bit and play!

Sales may be slower, but that happens in every industry. Just need to look at the bigger picture and begin preparing for the upcoming months.
Maybe it's time to start building that paysite you have always wanted? Maybe you'll experiment with your advertising text a little more? Or maybe you'll start writing sex stories?
Things always change. You need to be willing and able to adapt to those changes.

It always slows for me until after the 15th. Two reasons - kids are home on spring break (hard to watch a porn dvd) and taxes. The war isn't helping as lots of my members were military and many shipped off to the gulf dammit!

Chris, IMHO sales go down on summer. Europe and U.S. are responsible for a vast amount of sales and people definitely tend to stay out of home for more time on that warmer period of the year.
I think that there are several ways to keep your cashflow healthy though. Investing on your business on that part of the year is very important. New Designs, New Content Management Systems...
Innovation needs to be there all the time, but in my eyes, summer should be the time of the year adult business men and women work harder than ever.
Just don´t get too stressed out or...
