Easily for me it was the 1987 NBA Eastern Conference Finals when Larry Bird (Boston) intercepted an inbound pass from Isiah Thomas (Detroit) to win and move on to the NBA Finals....Talk about an extreme high going to an extreme low!

That's a good one...

For me (of most recent memory) it was the 1993 Stanley Cup semi-finals. Back then it was called the Campbell Conference Finals. Los Angeles vs Toronto... It was the only time I ever cursed out Wayne Gretzky... but I really wanted to see my Leafs go to the finals against the Canadiens.

Imagine that... a Toronto / Montreal final for the cup! It will probably never happen again.

byung yung kim's 2ND 9th inning homerun in the series. As if it weren't bad enough it happened 1 night, the very next night he gave one up, I felt so bad for him, he looked like he wanted to cry on the mound

At least Kim's ineptness did not cost his team the entire series.

I am not a Red Sox fan, but the Bill Buckner error in game six the 1986 world series comes to mind.

I understand the Red Sox fans get emotional just hearing about it or seeing it.

It has been a while, but as I recall Boston was ahead and could have won the series with a victory that night. An easy grounder went right under his glove. The Mets scored the game winning run on that play and later won the series.

The year of the baseball strike, the Montreal Expos had a great chance to go to the world series... I was very pissed at baseball that year.

i thought they won the series on bucker's mishap. I didn't get to watch that series (i was at the time a huge mets fan, gooden and darryl "i got the coke straw-berry were my heroes) I was unfortunately soaking in the sun in acapulco mexico

I guess I'm not the only die-hard Leaf fan in the house...

I don't think the Wings will be able to go all the way to the finals this year anyway. They're a team full of old men now. Would you believe Chris Chelios is 41??
Toronto hasn't made all the right off season moves either. We'll see what they do in terms of changes before Xmas. I'm thinking the Rangers are going to be dangerous this year in the east, and San Jose or Vancouver in the west...

The Rangers seem to have added high priced players over the last few years(Fleury, Kamensky, Lindros), and missed the playoffs. I hope it is the same this year. But they do have a scary lineup. Eek.
