Default Root canals are not fun

I just got home from the dentist. I had my first root canal and let me tell you it isn't fun lying practically inverted for over an hour with your jaws wide open. My jaw is just as sore as my tooth right now, but thankfully I'm still going to be frozen for a few hours.

The worst part is I only needed the root canal because I had a filling on that tooth and the old dentist went way too deep... arrrg...

Ohhhh no. Sorry to hear that Chris. The tooth and your jaw will probably be sore, even after the anesthetic wears off, for another day or 2. Aspirin is the best over the counter medicine for that.

Thanks Panky...

If it gets really sore... luckily I have some Atasol 30's left. But they make me kinda high... so I don't like taking them unless it's absolutely necessary.

DO NOT SMOKE whatever you do! You can get dry socket (i think it's called) and that is allll bad = mega pain.

I've had my share of root canals, my dentist was gonna name his boat after me! rofl

I've had 2

when just like yours Chris dentist went in to deep, that was much more uncomfortable than my last one

I lost half a tooth playing hockey, so I think most of it was missing anyway, they just had to clean it out :-)

Well the freezing is wearing off... hehehe... no pain yet.

I think I'll be all right. This dentist is damn good. It's just that now I have to get a proper filling over top of it, and then possibly a crown. It never ends!

Don't get a crown on it right away. Let a regular filling sit there for a few months to make sure the tooth is going to be ok. Putting a crown on right away just irritates the tooth more and if the RCT fails, they have to work through the crown to fix it. Which, is a pain and in time could weaken the crown.
