Matrix II; only one word: WOW !
Back from Matrix Reloaded.
Only one word: WOW !
If you like combat scenes, you'll get delighted. If you like to rave, you'll be delighted. If you like metaphors, you'll be delighted.
I'll have to watch it a few other times before I stop getting wow-ed and start understanding the bottom line of the story.
A few things really blew my mind.
It reminds me of This Perfect Day by Ira Levin. I don't think this book was ever made into a movie, though.

That makes three good reviews I've seen... and about a hundred bad ones.
I'll be going to see the matinee this Sunday.

Funbrunette and I definitely must see this movie. I think we'll warm up by putting the first one into the DVD player.
I've read some reviews for it, and the main thing seems to be that people love the movie, but it isn't as mind blowing as the first because now we know what "The Matrix" actually is.

You hit it dead on Chris. Incredible movie with visual effects and fight scenes that will blow your mind.
I know that we already know what the Matrix is but there are many more subtle mind benders throughout this film to keep you thinking for hours and wanting to see it again.

The movie was awesome... the only reason why there's so many bad reviews is because they went in wanting this and that and expecting this and that.... and basically nothing would have made them happy.
They complain that the same FX from the first one were over done in this one, but hell, you know if they didn't, that they'd be complaining that they didn't use it enough compared to the first one...
it's a no win situation. Those people that give it bad reviews will still be buying it on DVD, you just watch.
I personally loved the movie, and am now racking my brain on all the different things that they could have meant in it. There's so many ways this story could go in part 3... I'm trying like crazy to figure out what's going to be the end result!!
So yes, expect some good plot twists, awesome fights, and majorly huge special effects. It's one big huge action scene (after the first few minutes of love making).

Indeed. The fight scenes are great, but the most interesting part is the political philosophy aspect of the dialogs. Mind blowing. In fact, during the movie, I just longed for the dayum fight scenes to end (even if they were good), just to hear more of the idea-stuff

Hey, lot of people say it sucks.
After the presentation in Cannes there was only a big silence... People say it's like 1.5 hours of video games...

People always expect the sequel to be better that the first movie, and because bad movies never get a sequel it's damn hard to live up to the expectations.

I agree with StuartD, I think a lot of people were expecting it to be something and it turn out to be something else. I've seen it once (so far) and I really liked it. I think it makes you start thinking a lot more about the whole thing. Is the "real world" with Zion just another matrix? I've given up trying to figure it out and will just wait on the last one.
I want to see it again just to hear the scene in the construct again. Too many big words all at once, haha. Maybe I'll just download it. :-)

It would be a bit too easy to have the Matrix be inside another Matrix. It's too predictable, and it's been used before (13th Floor). BTW, for those who are planning on going, stay until the end of the credits, the trailer for the Matrix3 is show. (ahah to all the suckers who left before the end of the credits!)
I thought the movie was pretty good. Good action, good pacing. Dialogue was pretty weak though. I know there are lots of meanings to these dialogues, but right now they are just trying to sound deep and it doesn't work. I should go back and try to think about all the different meanings (first time was mainly watching the effects). Btw, the scene where neo and trinity have sex is damn long and boring!

Sure it would be nice. I tried to download it on Kazaa to watch it again but people are crooked on there, they put the wrong names to the movies. First time it was Saving Private Ryan, then Fight Club, then some obscure porn movie hehe.

Well I gotta say. I didn't like it. Say what you want about what I expected and all that.
Here's what I didn't like. I DIDN'T like watching fight scenes that could've been made with the Max Payne engine. I DIDN'T like that Zion looks like a mix of star wars movies. Caves to look all tribal but then switch to this high tech tunnel systems with bridges going every which way in the long pit. Looked like the death star all of a sudden.
I do like the whole story though, the background story of why the matrix exists, how the people are programs, all that. I liked that a lot, but the action scenes were pissing me off. In only liked Trinity's scenes. The intro and the bike scene.

well i agree, the movie was able to deliver as expected.. too much nonsence talking..
most of us expected much more 360 fight scenes... so?
it was really funny though when NEO was fighting with alot of agents... why does NEO sweet if he can just FLY.... hahahah

That's one of the thing that really bothered me in the movie. Neo is indestructible, whatever happens we know he will get through it without a scratch. So apart from looking good, the fight scenes with him don't really mean anything.

I also warmed up by playing the original in the dvd,
but i got to say i was little disapointed, fight scenes rocked, bullet time was fun as usual : )
but i was a little miffed at the plot developments, the weird & totally useless romantic angles and keannu's suffering attempts at speaking english (dude, cut down on the cheeba, man he can barely put together a simple phrase it's wild lol)
Still fun, don't misunderstand, but not nearly as classic as the 1st imho,
thank goodness for mr smith & CGI.

Matrix was ok. The first one was the best! this one had great visual effects but the story line kinda sucked. I think round three will be spectacular.

i guess we anticipated the outcome too much, that's why our expectations were never met.
