Canadian Snowbirds

Hey All!!

Well, I just HAD to come over to Evil Chris's board and talk about the great time Spider, I and the kid had.

Yesterday the Air Show was in town, and the Canadian Snowbirds did their thing. TOTALLY FREAKIN' AMAZING!!!!!!!! OMG...I just LOVED watching them!!! Sooooo Graceful!!!

Seeing all 9 of those planes in and out of formation, it was just beautiful!

I haven't seen them in many years, but during my time in the Canadian military, I know of a few pilots that were chosen to be Snowbirds. Pilots stay in that unit for 2 years, travelling all over to shows etc..

The actual airplane of the Snowbirds is a "Tutor". Certainly not an aircraft with a role for anything other than aerial stunts and shows. All of the pilots in the Snowbirds come from other units and aircraft that they pilot. Whether it's freight, fighters, helicopters.... whatever..

The United States Airforce Thunderbirds use F-16 Falcons.

F-16's currently have real combat roles in addition to being demonstration aircraft.

We had them do an airshow here to celebrate the end of the Candian National Exhibition, Labour Day and the Sunday before. I totally forgot and I was laying out on the deck by the pool and BLAMMO a bunch of planes go whipping by and woke me the fuck up! LOL I could see most of the show, was awesome like always.

I've been watching the air show most years since I was wee.

I don't know what it is...I always seem to think the most attractive guys are the one's that have been trained to kill me quickly. LOL Military, Matrial Arts...Mmmmm....

(BTW--the Thunderbirds were at the show too. I think that the Snowbirds were much more gracefull, though the Thunderbirds were more powerful.

Both put on a great show though.
