Default Traffic jump start

Hey,

What's your best traffic starter for a new site? Do you just buy the traffic, or make a bunch of galleries and play the TGP game, try to do SE positioning, or what?

I'm just wondering what everyone feels works best.

well, if you can manage the SE placements, then do that, it's always PRODUCTIVE traffic, and then, you should considering doing trades with some small sites, but fact is that many sites don't 'accept' new sites because you have very few hits... but on the other hand, you'll have to start sooner or later right? don't go with the big fishes simply but play the right cards ;-)

have a nice day!

Hi Gruntled.. first have you a plan on how much traffic you want
to have per day and what your business model is for the future?

second.. would you rather post to tpg's or make avs sites? and feed your tgp with exit traffic from your avs site as can find out some pretty dam good ways of building traffic by reviewing some of the information at twinkley's site http://www.theadultwebmaster.com I must say that i have learnt alot from that site.

lastly, I can remember hearing on maxcashlive sleazy quoted a saying.
"TEST, TEST, TEST"

I strongly advise if I may Gruntled. Think first about what you can spend on traffic before you jump straight into buying your traffic.
It comes at a price and treat this traffic you buy if you go that way as gold, dont flush it down the toilet so to speak, talk it over with your well trusted pals on icq or where ever before you do..

But I must say, its dam great to see a person such as yourself wanting advise from xnations...

have fun.

What traffic and how you initially get it to your site, depends on a number of factors.
  • Country specific?

    Niche specific?

    Host and bandwidth restrictions?

Type of site you want the traffic to go to?

    Your advertising budget?

Type of products or services offered?

    ...

Search engine traffic is gold.

There's the pay-per-click method such as AdWords, or Sex.com. Know your target marget and the keywords and keyphrases they are using to search for what you have to offer.

There's pay for inclusion options being offered by search engines and directories. You pay a certain fee for your site to be included in their listings, and / or you can pay a certain fee to have your site reviewed faster than the average waiting period.

Link trading with related sites.

Purchasing traffic. Do your homework.

TGP's and MGP's can produce a lot of traffic. Big debate about whether this is crap traffic or not, but it does, for example, help to boost stats for trades. Good galleries, partner accounts, and or paid listings will help to get the traffic. If you operate a TGP / MGP, you can control your traffic and where it goes. Purchase traffic. Encourage bookmarking. Establish trades. Maybe do pay-per-click or pay-for-inclusion to help jump start the traffic.

Paid listings on webmaster boards, MGP's / TGP's, industry newsletters, webmaster board newsletters, ...

Pop-up, pop-under, exit console programs and trades...

Write a press release announcing your new site.

Write articles and tutorials about something you know and then link it back to your site.

Basically, there is methods that are going to generate some quick traffic, and there's methods of traffic generation that take longer to first get the eyeballs there, but lead to a steady flow.

Is your site built to sell? Is it user friendly? Is it fully functioning?
