Default Question in regards to slogans... im confused

Should a slogan match a domain name's meaning or would it be better off matching what you are trying to sell?

Depends if you are trying to brand the domain name or if you want to target an item or service being offered or a quality that company has that their competition is lacking in.

So what i think you are sharing here today is that if you setup the domain to sell your own product or service then make a slogan to suit that perpose, and the second part i still didnt get... not 100% anyway.

Here's a few ways to look at this...

A few years ago, some dairy farmers association came up with the simple phrase "Got milk?". This ad was not selling the companies domain name, it was selling milk. They didn't care what brand of milk, whether you bought chocolate milk, or whether the milk was whole or 2%. They just wanted people to buy milk. Another slogan to this effect was "Milk. It does a body good."

Another one is... "Stop cleaning. Start Swiffering." This advertises the Swiffers. The domain name is http://www.swiffer.com/ When you type in swiffer into Google, guess what the first listing is? swiffer.com
This also works because the advertising floods your head with the word "Swiffer", which happens to be the name of the product, but will also appear well in the engines because the domain name is swiffer.com

Look at Oxeo web hosting. Their domain is http://www.oxeo.com . Their slogan is "Superior hosting, for today and beyond." That's an effective slogan. It says nothing about oxeo.com, but it draws you in to see why they are "superior hosting".

"NyQuil - The nighttime sniffling sneezing caughing aching stuffy head fever so you can rest medicine." This slogan tells you what the medicine is for without advertising Vicks.com When you type in NyQuil, vicks.com appears at the top of the listings. Vicks chose to brand a specific product, not the domain name itself.

Does the product solve a problem?

Do the products cater to a specific niche?

Is the domain name a name of one of the products?

???

Thank you very much Panky, I am clear on that now.

I feel alittle silly for the last week I have collected 5 domain names and only 2 out of them are going to be used. With your strong advise I shall use them well.

Have a great day..
