Default Im board... lets talk SEO!

Search Engine Optimization, do you do it, and how far?

As most know(I would hope) It is a good idea when building FreeSite/Galleries or any site in that matter to add title attributes to their links, alt attributes to their images, as well as have a good title tag.

I find some people just make-up titles and tags for all their pages or sites, witch is ok in some ways , hover if you took a little bit of time, 5-10 minutes at most you could be write a better SEO page then you where before.

When Im working on SEO, I like to use Overture's keyword lookup tool, because its free and can help me with picking words for better SE traffic.

One of the number one mistakes that ‘newbies’ make in SEO is to take the keyword with the most traffic and use it, however this is not always the best idea, because you will have so much competition for that keyword you will never make it to the front page of a SE.

For instances lets lookup the keyword ‘porn’.

Overture show us that 3,000,165 people looked for the keyword porn in June. When we perform a search on Google for the keyword ‘porn’ we see that there are over 146,000,000 sites trying to get top ranking on the SERP. This by far is a massif number for any small site or page to get top ranking, so with that in mind you would more then likely never see any traffic from it.

Lets say our site is about hardcore porn, and we are pushing FreePassBucks, or Wegcash’s email program. If we do a little bit of keyword searching we can come up with ‘free hardcore porn movie clip’. Overture shows that 152 people search for that key phrase(Remember that overture is not accurate always, so it may be more or less), and Google shows us that 2,920,000 sites are trying to get top SERP for this key phrase.

I know your thinking that not much traffic, however lets think about that for a minute, as we are building FreeSites or Galleries, and if we made one each day for 30 days that would be over 4,560 hits a day from SE traffic, not including traffic from TGP’s and LL’s. Also we know that most SE traffic is much cleaner then any TGP or LL traffic so our signups would be even better.

Just think by the end of the year you would have over 54,720 unique hits a day to pages that you made a year ago.

In a few days I will start talking about keyword density for better ranking as well as off site SEO.

Pretty cool l3vi!

Have patience. Many people are in Toronto this weekend partying, some are on vacation, and some people just don't post much on the weekends. During the week, more people will read this thread and reply.

Do you leave pages as-is after you've put them on your server?

Tell me about tweaking an existing page.

If you already have SE traffic, but want to increase it, is it better to do so with a new page, and let the SE spider, or better to take your chances changig the original and risk loosing the traffic you are getting in a gamble for more?

Tweaking is worth the risk sometimes, especially if you are nowhere near the first few pages on google for the search term you want.

Yes, I would tweak the page(s) at any place in the listings. Just don’t tweak it everyday or week, wait a month or two, that way you can see how your tweak worked with the SE.

I tweak my pages till I get to 1st or 2nd place for what Im looking for. Tweaking can take just one sitting or up to a year(Maybe more!) depending on the level of competition you have and the power in ranking your site has.

I have spent over 2 years tweaking one of my mainstream sites, and it has paid off, as it is #1 for a top keyword that gets over 20,906 in clicks each month. To this day I keep tweaking it now and then, so that I can keep 1st place.

Everyday I watch my competition clime the latter closer and closer to my site, but I keep on tweaking, so that they wont take my ranking.

What I do to tweak a site if it has been getting hits for some keyword, is work with the title tags, and look at my percentage of the keywords Im using in my copyright, other things I also do it work on theme of the site(I will be talking about themes soon)

If my title tag was ‘Hot amateur teens giving blow jobs’, and I noticed that I was getting some hits for ‘amateur teen’, ‘amateur blow job’, and ‘blow job’ on a given page I would rewrite my title tag to something like this: ‘Amateur teen giving blow job, all Amateur blow jobs’.

That way I am focusing on each key phrase and still making something that a human can read, and understand. I always put the most important phrase first because the SE’s will give better ranking for it, I never go for more then two keywords on a title tag, three at the most.

There are many ways to tweak pages, and I will be covering that later on in the week with two other big post.

Adding new pages can help, but it also could hurt you, depending on if you wrote the copy the right way.

I add pages when I see my ranking slipping or moving around a lot, that way Im adding weight to my site, as I know the rest of the site is doing good with the keywords I want.

If the site is slipping on a keyword that I want I will write 3-7 pages 100-250 words of content for that keyword.

Know anything about SE filters or dampeners?

There's an article Here
that mentions cross-links being on the same IP block, incoming text links all having the same text, and even dampeners for "over-optimization"!!

What's your take on this?

Yes I know about it. My take on over-optimization, is don’t spam the shit out of the SE, and don’t keep on using keywords for title tags like 'porn' all over the place(as SEOChat noted on that subject), and you wont see much of a problem if it all. I can show you sites that are so optimized that it could make the puke, and they never move from the top. A lot of people over think things!

I have heard about the cross linking on the same IP, and that is the biggest peace of shit I have ever heard, because it makes no since when almost all hosting packages host more then one domain on the same IP. So I can’t see Google doing that, as it would take out 1/2 of the net, because so many people run more then one site on the same IP.

One thing I keep in mind with stuff that I hear like this, it from people who thank the government is watching them 24/7 because they have a cracked version on windows running on their desktops. A lot of SEO’s will look to deep into Google, looking to find something that is not their. Even the article it self noted that the ideas are unproven and are only thought or speculation.

I think even if this really was something that bugs you, you can go to arin.net and buy like 6 Million IP addresses for $500 a year.

Building themes with your sites; One of the things many new and old webmaster forget to do when they build sites, is think how a search engine would look at your site, individually and as a hole.

A good way to see how Google sees your site is to use it's search tool:

site:www.yoursitename.com -pppp

the -pppp tells Google to find all pages on that site that does not have 'pppp', if you take out the minus and jsut have 'pppp' it will search for all pages with 'pppp' on it.

Themes can make or brake you when it comes to, pushing your site that last mile to that number one ranking in Google that you have been dreaming of.

Making a theme in a site involves keeping your links and content in a logical order or groups, thus saying you want to keep complementary content linked to content that has similar relevance.

Working with themes is like building a pyramid, thus your index page would be the top of the pyramid, and each page below it would be of relevance to the page before it. Thus saying, you would not want to link a page about ‘penis enlarging pills’ to a page about ‘MILF’, as it has no relevance to the page. This same theory applies to sites you link to, as you would not want to link a TGP to a turn-key site.

As you work your way down the pyramid you will want to link pages on that level to pages below it and across its level to other pages that have similar content. Each level of the pyramid will have ‘longer’ keywords that is more relevant to what the surfer is looking for, and is capable of creating a theme in your site. If we where building an adult site that was about Asian, how do you think we would brake the theme down for the site?

My first approach would have my index page be about ‘Asian Porn’, and the content(copy) would be similar to the title tag in that idea, the following pages would be about ‘Asian Teen’, ‘Asian Love’, ‘Asian Sex’. Etc.. till I have covered all the 2nd level pages keyword. Now this is where many, including my self trip up. Because of our desire to let our users have all the links available to them on the 1st or 2nd page, we end up braking the theme of the site. Instead of having all our links in the first level of the pyramid we should allow room for 3rd level pages to be linked from the 2nd level page.

The 3rd level we would want to brake the keyword down even more into detail. From what we used on the 2nd level page ‘Asian Teen’ then some of the links from that page would be ‘Asian Teen Blow Job’, ‘Asian Teen sex’, or even ‘Asian Teen Bukkaka’. Thus as you can see we have created a pyramid and a theme, that Google will enjoy and give us high ranking.
Other important factors if you are linking to other sites you would want them to link to the page with the most relevance to their site and you would do the same.

My site has been spidered and indexed by Google’s, can I still make a theme? Yes, and no!

If your site has already been spidered by Google it will be hard as hell to get pages out of the index that you don’t want. But yes you can get it done, it will take time, and a lot of work to get everything fixed, and in the end you will be thanking your self when you see the amount of traffic that you have gotten for from just making logical order out of your site.

Cheers,

L3vi,

What you said about linking penis pills to a page about MILFs has been a big problem. Not only for SEO, but also for surfers.

A lot of times, the tours will be on-niche (let's say teenie) for the first couple of pages, but then right before the ccinfo form, a tour page will come up with BDSM or trannies, and the traffic will disappear.
